Deadlock*
It doesn’t have skins or ranks. Nothing to hook the addicts into the LiVe SeRvIcE. Just pure fun for the sake of it.
It’s still early access… Valve literally invented the hats economy, you’re insane if you think they aren’t going to add microtransactions to the game 🙄
Ok and? I never said they wouldn’t. The game is clearly early access hence the lack of monetization.
I mean, it will have those once the game is officially released.

Want to throw me an invite? I really want to try it, but none of my friends are on it. I stopped playing OW when they jumped the shark and announced OW2. You can only play if you know someone who is playing, right?
Yeah, it’s still invite-only afaik, but there’s no limit on the number of people you can invite, so I found someone in a public discord server who accepted all friend requests and sent out bulk invites. (For anyone else still looking.) I’ll send you a PM with my friend code and get you an invite.
I’m struggling to enjoy it. Some matches can be enjoyable but more often than not I find it a dull slog.
Theres nothing more boring than being stuck in a game for another 20 minutes when it’s well and truly clear you’ve been getting your arses kicked the previous 20.

Except League at least has a forfeit option
Dota does too but its fairly hidden and requires unanimous agreement. That said, Dota is far less snowbally, so unlike League or Deadlock, it rarely makes sense to forfet very early.
Dota only does in private matches, not matchmaking games.
I would also say it’s easier to snowball in Dota than Deadlock. You can take way wider and more restrictive control of the map since it’s smaller and everyone is less mobile.
I find that doesn’t happen much in deadlock. The ability to comeback is quite strong
I enjoyed Overwatch. League of Legends always feels awful to play. Deadlock feels way more like League of Legends than Overwatch to me.
You should check out The Finals if you’re looking for something that’s a bit more OW-like. Heavy focus on objectives instead of kills, like OW. There’s also lots of abilities and weapons to mix and match, so it’s less of a hero shooter and more of a build-your-own-hero shooter. Made by a bunch of ex-DICE devs, so the gunplay and environment destruction are very satisfying. Completely free to play, too.

By “Overwatch” I meant the original Overwatch. I stopped playing shortly before Overwatch 2 came out and I never played Overwatch 2.

It still has some kinks that need ironing out, and it could for sure use a bigger roster, but they’re cooking with this one. The MOBA core and superb movement mechanics just complement each other so nicely, and with both powerful easy to use active items and ability-based heroes available it’s possible to perform even if you’re not an aim god.
It seems cool. I know I don’t have the time to get into a moba (or moba-lite) right now, but I hope it catches on and does well.
Hello, Deadlock fans. Come talk on [email protected]!

It’s a sub on Sopuli.xyz. You can still subscribe to it on your own instance since we’re all federated.
It’s a different server (instance?) of Lemmy. Lemmy isn’t centralized, it’s a bunch of different servers that talk to each other (federated).
is it out yet? as an overwatch fan I’d like to try it. though I hate mobas…
It’s single player, but have you tried Baldur’s Gate 3 yet? I have around 400 hours in the game. It’s probably the best game I’ve ever played.
Pro tip: use a controller. The experience is much better with a controller.
The controller tip is insane. Use mouse and keyboard
The controller experience is really well thought through and the game is definitely playable with the controller. That said, I still chose kb+m because I felt like I got a better overview of a situation and the options I had in that situation, but I could see why someone would think the controller option is more immersive.
I strongly disagree, but that might be because I started playing on PS5 and didn’t move to PC until over a hundred hours in. Movement and interaction with the environment just seems a lot more immersive to me with the controller than with a mouse.
Oh, hey! Another Ratchet: Deadlocked fan in the wild!
No wait…
Honestly, the pal versions name “ratchet: gladiator” is more fitting.
