Civ V will do me plenty for another couple years anyway.

Lol this is the most expensive game I have in my wishlist, and I bet it won’t be good until it gets an expansion.

Can’t wait for it to be on sale without denuvo

Does going gold mean anything anymore? Nearly every major game is garbage at release and needs tons of patches and fixes.

It is called “going gold” because it is the gold standard for measuring the tolerance level for embarrassment from releasing the pile of garbage a project produced. Going gold is done at exactly the point when that drops from intolerable to tolerable to the stake holders.

It means there’s something in the box now. That’s about it.

After thinking about it for weeks I think I’ve finally settled on buying it, assuming day 1 performance is good. No preorders. I’m not installing that denuvo garbage on my pc though so at least civ 7 has finally made me switch to Linux last weekend.

Denuvo is fully intact under Linux though. It’s actually even worse than under Windows or at least it used to be, because switching between different Proton versions actually counts towards the 5 machines within 24 hours limit.

This is a native Linux port I believe.

Running through Proton may still be preferable, depending on the quality of the port.

So then it’ll have native Linux Denuvo I guess…?

I’ve seen rumours of native Linux support for Denuvo, but I don’t believe there have been any native Linux ports that have used it if it exists.

I would’ve bought it day 1 assuming reviews come back okay, but I refuse to ever spend $70 on a base game. I’ll wait for a sale if that’s what they’re charging.

Yeah, that’s totally fair. Besides denuvo that was my other concern. I only buy like five games a year though and never at release so I thought I’d treat myself xD

I’d probably recommend to anyone who hasn’t sunk hundreds of hours into any of the other civ games to just buy 6/5 and play that until 7 is on sale with a dlc or two. Seeing as how notorious civ is for being worse than the predecessor without dlc.

Totally agree with most of what you said. Trust me, I’m ready for a new Civ game. Just don’t feel like getting gouged especially for a series that routinely goes on deep sales.

I generally like the Civ games but I’m definitely not a Day 1 player. I’ll probably pick this up in a heavily discounted bundle with the inevitable expansions and at least some of the DLC in a Steam sale a couple years from now.

This is the way. Civ 6 is so cheap when it goes on sale now. I bet it’s a more complete game than Civ 7 too but I might be wrong.

Why does Civ VI have In-App Purchases?

There’s no Clash of Clans style micro transactions if that’s what you’re concerned about. There’s not pay to win. The in-app purchases are just for more content. The Anthology bundle should include everything from what I can tell.

I have no idea. The DLCs you can buy from Steam or Epic (or get the bundle).

Right, could be an in-game button that takes you to the DLC page

Is there a box PC version of the standard edition? Even if it’s just a game code in the box, I like the other stuff physical copies usually come with
