“Oops people cared, sorry about that.”
“Just a little whoopsie, sent a cease and desist to the wrong person. When I saw the public backlash, I definitely realized my mistake that was definitely a mistake to begin with” - Wizards of the coast
So much this.
Their decisions seem to conveniently become ‘mistakes’ whenever there’s public backlash…
“Mistaken” yeah OK it got as far as actioned. Maybe the legal department at WOTC need some training not like D&D has been doing well with its fan base recently
Is this the same legal team that sent Pinkertons to some M:TG fan, because WotC sent him the wrong box, two weeks early.
It’s not a mistake when one of the upper management guys was ranting about it before it happened…
Do you have a link for that?
I have a theory that the guys at WOTC get off to being humiliated online.
god i wish larian could somehow buy and own the bg3 rights so wotc could get squat :(
Buy the Divinity games instead. Rewards Larian, doesn’t give WOTC/Hasbro shit, and enables the studio to continue to work of stuff they find exciting, rather than becoming chief foremen of the IP mines, along with all of Activision’s support studios who do naught but crank out CoD skins nowadays (RIP Raven).
If I remember right, Larian has pretty definitively said they want nothing to do with DnD or BG3 moving forward, to the point that they cancelled DLC plans.
welp looking these up i didn’t know they had a new game!
The Divinities have been around for a while, you might be able to pick them up on sale
Divinity 2 game out in 2017 but it has a DM mode to carry out dnd campaigns and an SDK to make full game mods if you’re into that
Best I can say is this is a small step up from the Pinkertons debacle
