1 TB was standard when I was shopping for gaming laptops last year. Frankly it’s more than enough for most people and in line with the consoles.
2TB SSDs are going for as little as $60 right now. This isn’t much of a problem anymore.

I never see the point in preloading as it’ll just have a huge patch to install on release anyway.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game ship a day 1 patch that was the same size as the initial install.
