Hello, my name is Cris. :)
I like being nice to people on the internet and looking at cool art stuff
You might like the indie wiki buddy extension, it can automatically redirect you to a independent wiki when you go to fandom (if there is one), remove fandom search results, and redirect you to a ‘breeze wiki’ page if there’s no fandom alternative
(Breeze wiki is an alternative frontend for fandom, much like invidious for YouTube. It guts all the ads and banners and garbage, and gives you a much simpler wiki page)
The creator of Fortune’s Run, who goes by Dizzie on Steam, announced Tuesday night that her past had caught up with her. “I’ve been sentenced to prison for the next 3 years,” she wrote on the game’s Steam page. “It’s a long story, but I’ve lived a very different life before I was a game developer, and I wasn’t living very well. My case is about 5 years old now, I have been going through the legal process the whole time I’ve been working on this. I have finally been found guilty and sentenced, and I’m going away next month.”
“It’s a shame, but it’s the consequences of my actions,” the developer continued. “I was a very violent person and I hurt a lot of people in my life. Unfortunately, the sentence isn’t going to help with that at all, but I guess we all know that. So the game isn’t TOTALLY dead, but unfortunately due to even further bad things happening, it’s unclear what will happen.”
:(
I’d heard the story was kind of a letdown (I don’t have hardware I can play 3 on, so I haven’t gotten to it yet) so I’m really just hoping the story gets the focus and effort it needs; 1 & 2 had really excellent writing and story design and it feels like a huge loss for the series if they can’t find that again
Nothing does :(
Beeper is built on matrix and uses a bridge to RCS, so I’ve thought of using that in place of Google messages, but you have to link it with Google messages, so it doesn’t really help me with escaping Google
Google are assholes and refuse to actually build an open standard that can replace SMS
Huh, thanks for the advice!
I have very poor working memory so thinking about words, and trying to remember letters, and thinking about how long they are, all at once, kinda fries my brain pretty quickly 😅 but I have a much easier time with the lateral thinking and word reasoning of connections
I’ll keep your advice in mind if I give the wordle clones a shot, or am playing sometime in the future post-strike!
Hope you have a good one 😊
I saw someone share this earlier today also as another option!
Periodic reminder in light of the #nyt strike that #wordle started life as a free, vanilla javascript website with no DRM and not owned by the nyt, and I packed it into a single html file that you can download and run offline or from any site, like this: https://jon-e.net/wordle.html

If anyone has an alternative for the connections game I really liked that one :)
Syncthing-fork seems to still be under active development

Syncthing-fork still seems to be under active development, at least for the time being
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.catfriend1.syncthingandroid/
I’m surprised you’re the only person talking about syncthing-fork and that it’s not the top comment, it’s the only android client I’ve actually used
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.catfriend1.syncthingandroid/
Here’s the f-droid repo for folks who might prefer to get it that way
I feel like a lot of people are missing the context that this was prompted by a Mario cosplayer sending inappropriate messages to a minor 😅
Nintendo is dogshit about their IP, but like I can’t really fault them for being upset that someone used the family friendly nature of one of their properties to facilitate an inappropriate interaction with a child. If I were Nintendo I’d be pretty unhappy about that too
Just because you don’t find yourself needing a given port doesn’t mean no one should have one.
My USB c port broke from being cycled too many times with a stupid headphone dongle, and now I can’t charge it with a cable OR use my god damn headphones. I like my headphones, its obnoxious that I can’t just plug them into the device I want to listen to. I get it’s not relevant to you but it is relevant to many other people which is why so many people are still bitching about it years after almost every manufacturer has removed the port. Every single day its frustrating I don’t have one. Its frustrating when my friends want to play music in my car and they don’t have one.
I got my headphones for Christmas and I LOVE THEM, but I can’t even use them with my phone :(
I’d be very curious to hear more details on this, do you happen to have a source handy, or any recommended reading?
In fairness, the money he gets from being a scumbag with fandom probably can’t be used to fund Wikipedia unless he wants to donate the money he’s making from his business to run his nonprofit. It’s not surprising he wouldn’t do that (even if thats the way the world ought to work) and I don’t presently have reason to believe he personally gets anything out of the donations that are given to keep Wikipedia running
In fairness, being an entertainer who makes technical knowledge more accessible is a great thing that should be applauded; there is value in being a communicator rather than an expert… Until you mislead people and fail to maintain a certain level of integrity/credibility. I’m not huge on the idea that we should look down on people for not being the very most technical of experts, but I DO feel we need to hold people accountable when they prioritize profit over integrity
Oh nice! I use firefox on mobile so I can still use extensions (just have to enable developer settings), but that’s super handy for folks who don’t have that option!
