Instead of playing damage control once players find out a new game is a live service, maybe stop making live service games. How many have actually made the kind of money that publishers are chasing? Now compare that to how many have flopped because people have realized that “live service” just means $80 for an early access game with minimal content to grind through at launch and a “roadmap” of updates which invariably includes DLC, microtransactions and battlepasses you’ll have to pay extra for, and that’s if the game even survives long enough to get there.
I think Fortnite poisoned the market because of its live service success. Instead of making most of the money at launch they can now bleed whales dry by introducing a battle pass + skins + DLC.
I’m getting the vibe that it’s been developed with full knowledge that it’s going to be a commercial flop, and they’re just hoping to at least not lose money. Feels like the developer had a contract to make a live service game w/ the IP so they’re just chugging it out. Obviously not sure though.

My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.
They just want your money, not your time.
Don’t worry devs, by not buying the game I know you won’t waste my time. If I need a batman fix I’ll visit Arkham city.
I mean, what else are they gonna say? “We’re totally gonna waste your time AND milk you for as much of your money as possible!”
Just waste your money, an endless amount of it.
Translation: they’re SO gonna waste your time.

All they see is numbers. Destiny 2 makes HOW MUCH money? Let’s do that

Nobody is going to buy this I don’t get why they’re pushing it
Are they now banking on a handful mega whales?

An efficient wallet siphon. It’ll only want a few minutes a day! That’s totally not habituation as a mechanic for addiction!
Did you also watch Tom’s latest video? Only the first half or so is about vaping before it goes into bigger context. https://youtu.be/XuTQbOo3Y30?si=M2CqXlX6tiGmAkJ4

Nah, I’ve been pissed about this for maybe five straight years. If any video was a tipping point it was surely Dan Olsen’s Manufactured Discontent.

I believe the devs, unfortunately publishers call the shots
I don’t want to waste my time either, so I’m not gonna play it.
It seems like the kind of game you watch 20 minute YouTube video about and you know everything you need to know about it
Just like pretty much every other live service game.
My exact intentions
I haven’t even watched 20 minutes about it and already know about as much as I want to know about it.
Yeah the part where they kill Batman was leaked online months a go and that’s the only part of the game people are curious about.
