In a post on social media, the co-founder of Avalanche Studios has stressed why we might never see another Just Cause game.

JC3 was absolutely great. I finished it 100%.
JC2 is cool. I’ve not finished it.
JC4 is not fun. Boring. I’ve got about 3 hours into it.

Ya. JC5 is a no go.

I never played JC3, but I finished JC2 because the characters were funny (i.e. Bolo Santosi). How does JC3 compare to JC2 in that aspect?

the moment-to-moment gameplay and movement of jc3 is so much better that you basically can’t go back to 2. it’s a lot more freeform and fast, and the world is much more dynamic (even though it’s a lot smaller and less varied). the dlcs are also fun, with brand new mechanics compared to the base game.

the crime is that the story is ass and the characters are not memorable. the spectacle of the final boss battle of jc2 is repeated within the first two hours of 3, but then the final boss of 3 is just a single helicopter that you can dispatch just as easy as any other in the game.

i’ve 100%ed them both. 3 is about 1/4th of the content of 2.

This is exactly right which is too bad, JC3 was perfect when it came out. The grappling hook and wing suit was perfect! No game has felt as good with travel since, though the latest Spider-Man games got close.

I still go back and start up JC3 once a year or so, just to steal helicopters & tanks and trash enemy bases. Peak grappling hook. I really expected more of the same, dialed up to 11 in JC4, but yeah: uninstalled after a day.

OMG, i thought I was the only one! Jc3 was great, but JC4 felt like a slog.

JC2 multiplayer was tons of fun.

They could make a mod for a newer game to drive up sales. Not like a hardcore game mode, but a big sandbox to mess around in.

Just Cause in first person view would be absolutely wild.

Good, the series doesn’t need another entry. I loved the shit outta JC2 back in the day.

4 was basically Ironman : the game. 3 was upside down spiderman, and felt so good.

That was a really cool time to be into open world games, where we had knockoff superhero open world stuff with Just Cause and Saints row. SR4 felt like you were the flash.

SR4 was also way better written and acted than it had any right to be.

Yes! Please make something new and don’t beat the dead horse like every other lazy corporate studio has been doing.
