What do we have to do to convince Christian Selig to make Apollo for Lemmy?
Try wefwef, it’s very similar to Apollo
I already pay for Apollo, I’d happily keep paying for Apollo for Lemmy, I’m sure tons of users would.
Time to join us Android bros
Hey, maybe apollo releases the code some day and someone picks it up for lemmy/kbin, would be happy for the iPhone stans lol.
Meanwhile I‘m just using the Safari Shortcut on the Home Screen. Works just as good as an app. If you‘re in beta test mood you can check out MLEM. It’s available through the Test Flight App.
Though you can’t pull to refresh on a safari shortcut…
Honestly that’s a feature not a bug
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/05/smartphone-addiction-silicon-valley-dystopia
Yeah this is what I’ve been doing
Just waiting for Christian to announce he’s rewriting Apollo…
After everything that happened, let the man enjoy his forced vacation for like a year before going back into the fray.
Man the ad for lemmy if he announced it with a pop up on Apollo reddit opening
That would make spez so incredibly angry. And then promoting it on reddit in his subreddit and then people posting it to the apple sub would make me not surprised if he banned Apollo sub out of anger.
Same! I hope he’s considering it… Lemmy + Apollo would make it 1000x more attractive for Reddit users to enjoy Reddit without the management team’s constant fuckery.
As a fellow iOS user, Memmy is pretty sweet for a version 0.0 beta app.
Yeah I’ve been enjoying Memmy. Considering how early it is, it works really well.
Memmy in case anybody wants to join the TestFlight!
Thanks for the link! Thought the beta was closed.
Both memmy and mlem have been great in their own ways thus far. Both are in testflight and getting regular updates, in addition to the news about sync there is also news about another new one called artemis that is aiming to be apollo styled.
All three claim to be Apollo-like. It’ll be a while before any of them will be even close to how feature rich Apollo was though.
I’m not a iOS user lol, will never be iPhone or iOS, so I don’t even know about these apps you guys are talking about… But I just wanna say you guys are welcome to the Fediverse :-)
Yea it’s definitely a good start!
Really enjoying Memmy too! Dev seems to be moving at a quick pace. The app is already functional and getting better each day
Yea I’m digging Memmy too!
How do you get it on your phone?
Download Testflight then find the magic link to join the beta.
Would you like a more ‘Material’ lemmy app on iOS??
No
How have I not found this!?
I wanted to check out Mlem, but it’s full. Lemur I think is discontinued. There is one that’s coming called Artemis, but that’s not available yet.
Memmy is honestly just what I was looking for. Cheers!
You are able to login with a kbin acc on it?
kbin doesn’t have APIs enabled so Apps can’t talk to it yet
Im using jerboa and it looks great!
I’ve been testing both and I definitely prefer Memmy overall. Mlem has better image display options and has search. Memmy doesn’t display images unless you tap on the post. Search should be released in the next day or two, though.
Artemis being an Apollo clone had me very excited, though.
Edit: new app just released on TestFlight showing real promise: Limbo
Been using sync (paid) for over 10 years, will instantly buy a Lemmy version
I’ve never used sync, what makes it compelling?
Feature rich. Basically whatever way you want to view Reddit, it has it. It also played videos much better for me than the official app. Very customizable and great ease of use.
I always used RIF for reddit but I’ll definitely give Sync a try if this actually ends up happening
Fwiw, the dev for RIF has announced they’re going to be making an app for Tildes.
How do we get them to make Lemmy Is Fun?
Can’t really force anyone to make an app like that. As much as I love rif, I doubt we’re getting that treatment for Lemmy. Hopefully the sync dev makes a good one!
Same here! Been on RIF what seems like forever, will for sure give Sync a go if this happens.
What about Sync for kbin?
They’re federated so it shouldn’t really matter that much?
I guess we could do KiF once the API is read/write…
IIRC, there are some slight differences in API so Jerboa doesn’t work on Kbin. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Kinda; Jerboa can see and interact with Kbin posts, but you can’t sign into a Kbin account with Jerboa.
KBin doesn’t have a full API currently too, you can only read posts and comments with it. It is being worked on however.
Please support kbin!
Hahaha I was about to comment that this is how I felt before realizing the meme was exactly that. I thought this was another excited android user.
I’ve tried mlem and I’m going to try memmy but honestly kbin w/ kbin enhancement suite has been my preferred option. I just wish we could enable KES on the PWA version.
KES?
It’s nice that we can have all these choices for 3rd party clients that won’t end up getting screwed over due to a central authority.
You already have like 3 apps. We have jerboa. Jerboa.
And Jerboa probably won’t be updated for a while with the devs so busy working on Lemmy.
Is jerboa first party?
It’s made by the main Lemmy developer, but it’s his personal project and not the official Lemmy android client. He’s been making some controversial commits on Jerboa in the past on the basis that it’s his personal project, so he can do as he please (unlike Lemmy which is funded by a foundation).
Can you elaborate on the “controversial commits”? I’m on iOS so haven’t been following anything on the Android side
Actually, a new Android client called Thunder has entered Alpha. It’s SEVERELY lacking in features as of now, though.
There is also summit and connect
could you give a link for connect?
I like Flutter based apps, so that makes me happy. I saw it a couple of days ago and while it is lacking in features, it does feel nice to use and looks much better than Jerboa IMO.

The official community is on Lemmy.world/c/syncforlemmy
There’s also a subreddit r/syncforlemmy
I dare say he’ll be wanting to get out a functional app before implementing things like support for Kbin. Bjt it’s worth requesting it as the more who, perhaps the more priority it will get.
