Legendary Final Fantasy Composer Nobuo Uematsu Announces Retirement [update: this was a misunderstanding]
Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo should be as famous as John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Composed the soundtracks of our lives, even to people who aren’t gamers.
Edit: and Yasunori Mitsuda! Almost forgot about him
The only two video game soundtracks I have mixed in with my other music are Halo 2 and FFX. There are a few songs from VIII that I go back and listen to as well.
Man… I still use FF 6 (3 on snes) music as transition music on a community radio show (devil’s lab, the magitech factory music) I do. guys a fuckin legend
FF6 is just the best one in the series, hands down. That score masterfully stabs you with an overwhelming sense of loss. It can also smash when needed, my favorite boss track in the series by far.
Bro, could you have added like 1 or 2 other victory tunes at the end of battles in ff7? Random encounters were like every 5 seconds. The victory song was played like every minute.
Good for him. He’s made some of my most favorite music, and for that I am forever grateful. I’ve read about his work ethic, and the fact that he’s still alive blows. I’m glad to hear he’s going to take it easy.
He has created an exceptional body of work I listen to in various ways almost daily. I imagine he has inspired many generations of musicians and composers these past near four decades.

Fair enough, the dude’s been writing bangers for decades already

So he can make a new The Black Mages album?
FFX music was pretty awesome.

He’s earned it. Hopefully retirement doesn’t suit him though and we get another Mistwalker OST.

Lmao. I meant “blows my mind.” I was half asleep typing on my phone, so I’ll blame that. Either way, I’m leaving it :)
This guy made some of the best video game music of all time. I hope he has a long, healthy retirement.
