My trans friends purchased the game, too. One of them specifically because of the well-done trans character, they said “I want to support whoever wrote that character into the game”

Almost like projects with 100s of people working on them are more complicated than “one person gets a tiny share of each purchase so it’s completely bad”

I’m neither and you’re slandering me now.

Your other 2-paragraph comment bitching about the black guy in Japan being somehow disrespectful despite being a real person proved that you are, in fact, racist, bud

What’s with half the commenters acting like GTA V isn’t a great game?

Y’all know GTA Online is a different game technically, yeah? The single player of GTA V is still there and even better now that Enhanced is on PC. Rockstar didn’t fuck Up RDR2s single-player Mode so why assume they would on this?

because everyone remembered what Rockstar did to GTA V

Released a fantastic game worth replaying multiple times?

GTA Online =/= GTA V

Ask Titanfall 2 how well launching between Battlefield and CoD went for them

Release dates of big games matter, people only have so much disposable income

Also Covid? Seriously? If anything Covid should‘ve accelerated development on VR games

Your claim was that the game was a failure, my point with COVID was that you would have been extra wrong about that had there not been a pandemic limiting how many headsets they could actually sell, which was the point of the game. In the world that we got they sold out and had Back-orders for a year, had there not been a global pandemic those Back-orders would have been sales, and likely many who couldn’t buy one would have been able to as well

The rest of your comment shows you have 0 idea how Valve works internally. The whole studio doesn’t just work on one project, there are smaller teams that pick and choose what they do. This is why Valve tends to release shit a couple years apart that are wildly different (Alyx and Artefact), but 5-8 years between similar products (Portal 2 and Alyx). It being 5 years or more since their last major VR release is to be expected from them, not a sign of failing at anything

5 years old now and what has Valve released for VR since?

You know Valve has released a whopping 3 things total in that timespan (didn’t include deadlock cuz I’m not sure that’s officially released yet), right? A free steam deck teaser, the card game they’ve been working on for a while, and the CSGO 2 update

Valve works slow, my guy

A single game isn‘t gonna make a hardware

Good thing there are a shit ton of other games, then

It was a failure in the end of the day

No it wasn’t, you high? They sold out of Indexes around the games launch. Would have sold more if not for COVID, too

When I tried BO6s MP for a while after launch (main zombies usually but the MP historically was worth some time investment) and while it absolutely felt the worst in terms of EOMM on a personal level I noticed the game was almost always close for whatever that game mode counted, so I started paying attention

Very VERY quickly noticed what was happening: EOMM pulling it’s bullshit so people on whatever team was getting stomped would dip (no notif people leave and who looks at the scoreboard that regularly unless you notice something like I did) and then after maybe 25% of the match of one side being seriously down suddenly they’d get filled with a team either way over-skilled or blatantly cheating, managing to pull the score back in time to make it look "close’ even though it was a stomp one direction for 25-50% of the match followed by a stomp the other fucking direction

I’ve been dual booting with Grub for a year now and the only issue I ever had was accidentally installing Grub to the wrong drive at first

Maybe it’s because I run the LTSC IOT version but so far I just pick which OS at boot and go, defaults to Linux after 10s of inactivity

Terrible combat for anything more than a 1v1 that made it take 3 attempts at picking up the game before I finally made it past what one would call the opening bit

Then immediately put it down out of exhaustion

That’s not even close to the same thing and even you obviously know it

Sleep mode. Being able to pause a game for days on end is incredibly convenient. PCs have attempted to have this feature, but very inconsistently, and it often means you cannot web browse when finished playing.

The fuck are you smoking? My parents PC from the 90s had a sleep mode that worked exactly like a modern console’s would

Set it to boot to the Linux desktop and boom, laptop with gaming formatted shell for once, with a decent steam-big-picture thing you can choose to use if you want

Or reformat the entire OS and never use that steam mode again

It’s a console in the same way a Windows laptop with the Xbox app pre installed is

Yeah, that’s why I’ve been exclusively pirating and emulating your switch games, and will continue to do so

Nintendo never gets my money again, and it’s been a better experience so far doing so

I think it’s fair to say it’s in the same class of hardware as a Steam Deck (which is 3 years old at this point).

The switch was weaker than the PS4, which was the same age difference at launch

Shit, I think you could actually compare it reasonably to a PS3 from 10 years before switch launch

making uninformed comments about it

I have a bot scrapping and feeding every comment of yours to 2 different LLMs without the AI warning link, so they’re absolutely correct that you’re wasting your time

And the fun part is that blocking this account won’t stop me <3

There’s 0 chance it’ll be better than Starfield

Thought that read pretty clearly honestly

You might need to check the settings for it, I believe you have to set the item on the… Fuck it I’ll go snag a screenshot of my settings app I use this daily

One of these 2 settings might be getting in your way:

You have like 30s to put the device on your phone or it won’t charge and you have to unplug/replug your phone

The real advantage to the battery share feature (ime) is charging shit like my pixel buds while I also charge my phone, using 1 cable

Tried that, didn’t work, uninstalled 10m later

Tank controls for movement: forward/back with only “turn” right instead of “strafe”

Resident Evil controls

Trying to hold onto my desire to play FFXIV since I have a personal large house and years invested

But honestly the recent expansion having the worst story we’ve seen in a final fantasy ANYTHING alongside multiple staff members pretending Wuk Lamat’s voice acting was acceptable (and the large portion of the player base that will call you a transphobe for that opinion) has me seriously considering if this is the end of the line for me

Tried picking up GW2 but tank controls disgust me

January, when the year is actually done

It’s hardly intrusive, no pop ups or “hey I’m here” notifications. You can uninstall most of them in seconds without special tools.

If that’s your definition of bloatware then this point:

Android crapware is much more deeper, it’s not stuff your grandma can uninstall.

Is pretty silly as Android has less apps built into the OS, and I can actually go into settings and disable them very easily. Specific phone carriers might add bullshit on top of that, but that’s not Android doing that

Its annoyingly in sub menus but that seems to be because it’s for your whole account

When I set mine lower it applied across all 3 devices I used maps on

So the idea is probably most people like it at a setting once they find it, so save it and apply moving forward, not to be adjusted during the drive

The option for per-app is still great for other uses though for sure

It can help, yes - but a large percentage of the 38 to 49 million modern day slaves still exist in otherwise fully legal businesses.

Fun fact: the majority of people trafficked in the world are for sex purposes, so if you make it far easier to shut down that market, it damages all the other slave markets too

I get that you’re trying to bring awareness or whatever but both comments so far read more like “not worth legalizing sex work when other slaves still exist”

in a bad Russian accent

You’re pretty good

awkward double finger guns and walk away slowly

Making something illegal almost never outright stops it

It does make it significantly easier to regulate a market if it’s legal than if it’s not, so the EXTRA illegal shit goes down when markets are legalized

5-second quip

Someone like Musk is impossible here

Freedom from tyrants, maybe

He got reused in the mid 2010s as a very racist meme where people would make him sing some truly heinous shit, actually

Defunctland (I think) did a video on Mac Tonight that mentions it in passing, if you’re curious open a private browsing window and look it up, you can likely find the memes still

Not them but 9 months into Mint and I’ve had 0 issues with any games or programs that don’t just not work on Linux (fucking anticheat)

Simple, supported, Community that isn’t entirely filled with elitists telling you to use the CLI, good comfortable starting spot

Its hard because stop using adobe as graphic designe

Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects all worked when I tried them on Linux Mint 22 to see if they worked

Older versions from before the CC updates for those programs that you can use them for also work and work quite well, though I do understand that there are literally missing features for professional work in some of those older versions

A real Linux alternative (or proper fucking Support but fuck adobe) would be GREAT, but the change likely won’t be as bad as you might be worrying

So far the hardest thing I’ve had to install was called YAD, and that was so I could install Morrowind mods specifically, a rather niche need all things considered, and I’ve made multiple audiovisual projects on my Linux workstation without having to do anything like that

I do keep a Win10 LTSC on a side boot drive for games with anticheat and any programs I might need there but so far that’s literally only been handbrake, which I’m sure there’s a Linux version/alternative for but I just haven’t had to use it on that OS yet due to work flow

Or machine virtualization, VirtualBox and similar programs are piss easy to learn to use and most machines today should have 0 issue emulating older windows and an old game in a VM

Any issues you might have are going to be hardware related, like really old games not playing nice on no original hardware, but if you’ve got one of those then just install the last version of the OS and isolate that original hardware machine from any networking and it’s completely safe to use as a game console

It’s surreal reading comments pining for win7

Oh no they’ve been in a coma since 2012!

I jest, but seriously I was in HS personally while whinging about 8 and wanting 7 back after my laptop auto updated on me like a jackass. Its actually the event that lead to me learning IT!

it was never supposed to be a ground braking game just a way to monotize their testing while giving the hungry fans something to play with while they wait.

Can’t re-write history just to cope, buddy

would you reather a buggy unplayable mess now or a fully flashed out game a year or two later

Right now we don’t get either so that’s a weird 2 options to pick

All I did was point out that no, the Steam Deck isn’t the best deal for everyone

By saying something objectively silly, which was my point

Chill

Can’t get any more chill than right now BBY

if you’re trying to sell me the Steam Deck as a Playstation 5 Pro replacement I’d expect visual parity with at least the regular PS5, at comparable framerates

Pretty silly thing to expect given they’re entirely different devices

It isn’t a replacement for a stationary console or PC

Just wrong: it plays the same games and literally is a replacement for a PC if you want to go that route. Its not a top-of-the line monster powerhouse, but that’s never what it claimed to be

And I wasn’t going to go there but ease of use is also a major point in favour of the Playstation because you won’t have to deal with “getting around” things, ever.

Lol Sonys User experience on PS5 is painful compared to using the Steam Deck for 95% of what you do, the other 5% breaks them even at best, if not leaving Sony in the dust of their pathetic design and walled-gardening

Different people have different use cases which are best served by different devices.

No shit? Doesn’t change the fact that you’re objectively wrong about the steam deck though

it struggles to maintain playable framerates in modern games at its own native resolution

I love people making blanket statements about the SD when it’s a fucking PC: what settings are you talking here, because my SD handles games that came out this year no problem on medium settings native, some settings to low when I put it on my big living room TV

Its not going to replace a console perfectly but it absolutely can play almost anything that isn’t an exclusive or designed to just not work on Linux (which you can get around too anyway)
