It was a free update/upgrade for CS:GO. That’s like saying v2.0 killed v1.9.

Also, major upgrades for free ten years after release is frankly unheard of. This isn’t a “trend”

CS:GO is over a decade old and certainly isn’t “killed”, does the author just not want new games to be released ever? I feel like everything posted nowadays is ragebait.

Not to mention they massively over promised a game that seemed like it was meant to revolutionize every aspect it touched, but instead released a (imo) pretty fun open world game that was a bit of a shitshow on release.

Bit the bullet as in… downloading a free app and clicking a button every week to get free games? Good for you?

You’re looking for blood you’ll never get unfortunately

That’s a very defeatist attitude. In this case Google can just sign the contract to another company, but unions do work historically.

Of course everyone deserves a raise and I do hope they get everything they’re asking for, but some people are more easily replaceable than others and in this case there might just be nothing stopping them from being replaced. It sucks, but Google isn’t technically required to negotiate.

Hey man, Morrowind quests don’t hold your hand! It’s not like there’s a minimap and some big ass marker over his head saying “don’t kill and rob this half naked dude who looks like a skooma addict in his tiny studio apartment because he’s secretly the spy master for the main faction in the game”! I was young! I chose violence!

First time I played I had to load a save back in Seyda Neen because I killed some poor half naked dude in his shack in Balmora. Fuckin Caius Cosades.

Right, but my point was more that since a quarter of the EU uses iPhone they have iMessage by default, which could then quickly increase their userbase to a top competitor if they’re able to increase their EU smartphone market share.

I guess, but not too far behind relative to smaller messaging services right, seeing as Apple has 26% of the smartphone market share in the EU? And shouldn’t their global reach be at least somewhat considered? Seems like regulation aimed to allow smaller businesses to gain market share is letting one of the biggest companies in the world slip through.

Wait, where’s iMessage? That’s like one of the most popular messaging apps lmao

cough Baldur’s Gate 3 cough. Why impose an inventory limit if I can just send all the loot I’m gunna sell back to camp? And why no quick “send to camp” hotkey?! Right clickin n shiiittt

Ethics aside, my ISP can’t even give me the speeds I’m paying for or a connection that doesn’t go down semi regularly. Who the hell would even think that they’re the ones to implement this from technical standpoint?

Just looked at Steam reviews and apparently it’s another shitty launch that doesn’t run on anything other than the best cpu and gpu combos, so they can’t even promise good graphics lol

Dude could be getting a severance package over a year long at this point, I don’t know if that’s a “fuck you bye”

I’m obviously saying that humans can fix the issues, not that you should be landing broken code…

You don’t need it to be perfect, there will still be human intervention.

Fuck I just learned there’s a quickload from this comment lol. F9 didn’t work and I didn’t even think to try F8.

I mean you’d still need servers right, local first p2p means your data is stored locally and elsewhere, which would also be a privacy nightmare for corporations.

I fucking hate wired’s dramatic clickbait headlines so much lol. I’ll believe it when I see it, because corporations love “the cloud”. It’s way cheaper than on prem, usually less downtime, and you can blame someone else when your system goes down.

The entire body of issues from the ad supported model are legion and documented by people better than I.

So someone told you to hate something and you just went for it full send without understanding it, eh?

The time of the dev is the product here, there is no overhead beyond the play store scrape.

He shouldn’t value his own time and effort? Damn you’re entitled.

He can work for what he wants, but he’s shutting where I eat.

No he isn’t, just go use a different app ffs.

Are you really trying to compare an app that connects to a service with maybe 2M monthly users to fuckin Wikipedia, one of the best known sites on the internet that’s used worldwide and still has to beg yearly for donations?

Ads get you free services, welcome to the internet since it’s inception. If you don’t want ads, pay to not have ads. The god damn entitlement here, telling a guy that he should be working for tips.

No, they sell advertment slots to advertisers with promise of higher ad interaction, a promise they can keep because they target those advertisements to users that are more likely to interact with them using user data. User data isn’t sold, leased, whatever you want to call it.

Also, technically not entirely a monopoly because there are quite a few tech giants that operate like this. Oligopoly would be the correct term.

They took that out a while ago, that’s when I picked up the Quest 2. Honestly, it’s the best PCVR headset out there, and this article has nothing to do with PCVR, just their own platform. This won’t affect your ability to pirate PCVR games at all.

Lol no they aren’t, they have zero plans to cut out PCVR integration and even if they secretly did that would be suicide for their VR headset.

No, not at all, it’s strictly on their platform and that’s not going to change, because they physically can’t install DRM onto your PC’s existing non-oculus apps. And no, even though people in this thread are claiming it, they won’t stop PCVR integration because that would be suicide for their VR headset. Honestly this is just the way gaming systems are going now, new releases on Steam all have Denuvo, which is even worse.

Anyone who gets a different headset to “avoid DRM” is going to be very disappointed when they see PCVR games released with DRM.

Those are two very different things. Advertising giants don’t actually “sell” your data, it’s really not in their best interest, they make money by being the only ones with your data.

Another bs article by a hacky tech “journalist” lol

https://www.roadtovr.com/meta-cto-report-quest-pro-cancelled/

Meta didn’t cancel the Quest Pro.

Morrowind, specifically the Tribunal expansion, and then I played it anyways at like 10fps and fucking loved it lol
