A gaming community free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it’s price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don’t meet the system requirements, or just haven’t had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

I’ve just started playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma from the collection on Steam. I played this back on the XBox Legacy and never got that far. Now I’m playing around in Normal difficulty trying to learn the tells and come up with better ways to handle things. Still in Chapter 1, it’s been 25-30 years since I’ve played it and I never really got gud back then.
Playing FEZ
Currently playing a bunch of Aliens: The Dark Descent. Solid game if you like the xcom style but real time instead of turn based.
Playing the revived Defiance game (by Fawkes Games). It’s not a very in-depth mmo, but, it can be fun
Did you play the original?
Yes I did. I think the original release version, as well as the 2050 update
Is it less prone to crash? Is it any better overall? I liked the initial game and the tv show to a lesser degree.
I’d say “no” to both, but YMMV. They struggled with the launch (their server wasn’t able to handle the capacity, but they eventually upgraded it), and they are only providing minimal updates and some critical fixes. As far as I can tell, they haven’t added anything new. I don’t think Fawkes Games has the resources to make the game much better than it was.
My own personal experience is that it doesn’t crash too much (like, maybe once or twice out of 10-15 hours of playtime). Sometimes it could be server-side or client-side or network related. Best place for updates (ie. to check server status) is their Discord. There’s a subreddit, but, I don’t know if the devs participate or not ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Defiance/ ).
You can play for free, but, there are some limitations (eg. inventory space) that you will come up against fairly quickly. They have a the standard store thing where you buy in-game gems for real money and spend that on stuff (like inventory upgrades). I can’t remember what the costs of the original game were. But, with how they have the game set up, you definitely can “try before you buy”.
Sadly I haven’t played much or at all lately. Well, not sadly, actually: I fell into a rabbit hole of a personal project of mine, and this is where I’ve been for the past two weeks.
Having said that, I think the last game I played was FTL.
Art of Rally
Did a few stages in the Group B cars and then a couple of free roam areas getting all the collectables.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2
Playing the PS1 version on the Miyoo Flip and loving it. I have it on Dreamcast too but this version looks and plays great on the handheld.
I‘m trying to platinum PUBG, I never vibed with the game but now that I have fun mini goals that aren‘t „win against the sweats,“ I‘m suddenly hooked
Recently finished playing through the entire uncharted series, and am currently close to 100% completion for spiderman remastered.
Also been playing space marine 2 with a friend every now and then
Got Children of Morta on sale and been enjoying it. Doing horribly, but enjoying it!
Finally got around to playing Ena Dream BBQ. Damn, this game sure has charm! Playing it in short sessions because it’s very tiring to play (too hyperactive).
I’m into Elite Dangerous at the moment. I got a cheap second hand X52 hotas and I set up head tracking with OpenTrack and a webcam. It’s pretty immersive and fun!
I played through Spilled! yesterday. A short cozy game about ocean cleanup. I wish it was longer, I might play it again soon.
My Time at Portia
Beat Rebel Transmute, now I’m on Astronite and Zapling Bygone. Still also slowly going through Flintlock: Siege of Dawn.
Still have mirrors edge to continue, but this week i actually started setting up my own wow private server for some old buddies to play on. Will start for real after summer when they are more inclined towards gaming again. So far pretty fun to do (even thoguh just solo testing so far). I played a lot of wow 20 yrs ago
