It’s the Skinner box casino model of gaming, get em hooked young to the dopamine reward instead of building a skill based competition.

That’s great for stats but I don’t like when companies hide these details from me or other players, I guess I’m not their impressionable demographic anymore though since overwatch 1 was replaced by overwatch 2: currency management simulator and I checked out from games with a store+game model.

Dead cells and rogue legacy 1/2 were a lot of fun. Check out nethack if you want something more casual for mobile or in a terminal, it’s a classic. Switch specific I’d say check out dead cells or Isaac. If you want something casual without a big story or learning a bunch of RPG systems you might want to check out donut county, goose game, or golf story.

To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day

Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn’t have too much to say

No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip

For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip

Big iron on his hip

Burch was the head writer for 2 and pre sequel, they replaced him for 3 and I think the consensus was while the writing in 2/pre was mediocre 3 was much worse it feels like writing by committee. I’d prefer they get someone who wrote at least one semi successful book with a beginning, middle, and ending.

Imagine if gearbox actually hired writers with experience and good credits instead of just relying on their Skinner box casino loots.

When I played on PC more EverQuest, counterstrike, TF2, wow, Skyrim

After playing more on console ff14, elder scrolls online, pillars of eternity 1/2, and souls games (ds2, ds3, bloodborne, elden Ring)

I also like to play Indies and smaller games but those are the ones I keep going back to

“What can change the nature of a man?”

  • Ravel, Planescape: Torment

Yes, moderate all of that shit off every mass social media system steam, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blue sky, tiktok, YouTube, etc. Debate and compromise on a common set of standards, one for kids spaces and another for adults, and enforce the same rules to everyone with penalties tied to annual revenues so they can’t report one set of numbers to shareholders and another when it comes time to pay for the damages they caused by ignoring regulations. That is what regulating and building new markets should look like when you don’t have a corrupt oligarchy filled with bribery and regulatory capture.

Doom 2 was already covered so I’ll go with Roboquest, indie arena roguelike shooter with randomized weapons and perks but static arenas/mobs/bosses. Once you get a handle on the movement it’s one of the comfiest shooters I’ve played in years.

I used to be kbm exclusive but there have been some pretty good controller improvements made over the years, things like hotkey layers in Skyrim UI mods or the final fantasy MMO giving dozens of unique hotkeys on a controller, and new hardware with back buttons and shoulder buttons that keep both thumbs on the thumbsticks. Can’t beat mouse for precision, but there are tradeoffs for that.

With layoffs happening in an election year I am a going to be a bit suspicious that executives are colluding to try to lower employment rates to influence voters to vote Republican so their millionaire executives and billion dollar corps can get lower taxes and less regulation. We’ll see if they start rehiring again for 2025 after the election is over.

That’s true, I’ve had mine 2 years and am seeing some up/down drift on the left stick. Not great on the quality but I have used it often, and I can’t find anyone else with that button layout.

Randy may be one of the greasiest people ever, but he does deliver what people dig about gb games, the loot slot machine

The back buttons are near the middle so I’d assume it’s more comfortable for bigger hands, I think the v3 wireless version has the back buttons closer to the outside where the controller grip connects to the middle of the controller like the elites, I haven’t tried that style yet but I think that may be better for a shorter grip or hands.

My favorite layout so far is on the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma Xbox wired controller. It has x/y up between the shoulder and triggers, back buttons for a/b, so you can keep your right thumb on the thumbstick without moving it to hit face buttons a/b/x/y.

Let me just fire up all these Xbox exclusive and first party games they’ve released since like 2021…

Gamers are not asking devs to work until burnout on social media or forums, that’s management and usually in person or department/company policy and procedure.

Edit: more specifically to the article for solo devs they are talking about critics complaining they should have made something bigger which is not a bad problem to have for securing funding for future games if people like your art enough to request more and doesn’t require working burnout hours.

ScummVM is my emulator of choice, like ePSXe it runs on phones and opens it up to a bunch of classics

If you don’t mind a classic chess. Blitz/bullet/rapid/horde are different styles that don’t take as long to learn enough to have fun. Chess puzzles or against the computer are available if you want to keep it strictly single player. Lichess for multiplayer or I like chess tactics pro for puzzles.

Crosswords, there are programs like alphacross that aggregate from other sources to try different puzzles to find ones that aren’t too easy or hard.

You don’t even need to get good most of the time if you just spend more time learning the game by playing it’s mostly a knowledge check. Fully upgraded weapon (way more important than leveling dmg stats passed min req), npc and PC summons, get vigor up in the 40-50 range, mark your map and come back later, etc. You could play it like a fighting game training against bosses to learn their moves or just go somewhere else to grind levels or equipment to come back later for an easier fight.

Thanks, I’ve heard a lot of people enjoyed it so I’m pretty excited! I do that a lot with longer games, play like half then come back months later

Just got red dead 2 for sale on console for 20 bucks, planning on starting it tonight.

I ran up that dragons wing but didn’t see the room with the ladder just the drop behind the wing, I had to check a guide for that one after a couple days

It also doesn’t help that a bunch of games have an upgrade charge, I mostly just use it for Blu-ray lately.

Not scary for the auto workers who want to work on them, build them, supply parts for them, etc or the families who want affordable EVs. More scary for the wealth class who didn’t reinvest enough into updating their facilities and processes to stay competitive businesses. The government already gave them extra time with the embargo but that isn’t going to last forever.

That place stands out in my memory too as really ominous. That and the plains in the northeast where I first defeated a golden saint, the astroid prison frozen above Vivek City, and the libraries and book stores.

It’s the modern equivalent of an arcade quarter eater, movie/TV show tie in cash grab, etc predatory monetization in gaming. It is bullshit but it’s nothing new. Vote with your wallet what kind of games you want to play, but criticizing a game for including mtx without buying the game is a valid criticism because there are gamers who take single player mtx into consideration when shopping.

I agree with the rest but it’s not just modern gaming it was happening back in the 90s on consoles and earlier in arcades. One of the first games I played was an obvious cash grab by Marvel, Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade’s Revenge for the Gameboy. It was barely playable.

Directly measuring gravity waves first happened pretty recently in 2016 using LIGO, there’s a possibility through future observations at different frequencies someone might identify a means of manipulation. When humans first discovered electricity & electromagnetic fields it took awhile before batteries and generators, etc. It’s not guaranteed but isn’t impossible either.
