I had spectrum at my house like 6 times in 2 weeks. They redid all my coax house to pole. They had guys supposedly go out and check the street for issues. I get like 20 times a day where my latency shoots up. I play any MMO or online game I’ll have at least 1 disconnect but usually I get every 10 minutes.

It sucks, but on the bright side I may get the new fiber company in the area some time, they say my address is able to preorder but that’s been about a year now and nothing yet…

I just swapped to mull today. Fennec is only on fdroid or build it yourself. Fdroid updates take a week for official repo. Mull can get faster updates through DivestOS repo. Firefox just had a huge 0day and fennec is currently vulnerable.

I want them to write an actual KOSA bill that would introduce privacy laws and would prevent this stuff. But nah it’s more like Kill Online Safety Act and do nothing about the more real problems.

Gotta put in the will who gets what game heheh who should get genital jousting? Wife? Son? So many questions.

Based off their release times I wouldn’t say best there’s some gaps for security updates.

Also it lacks PWA support still. Its not a fork of Fennec like other guy said but they are using the gecko engine in the preview releases, prior they used the web engine.

No way Nintendo will allow this game on their system if it could even handle it. The nighttime city players can be quite R rated.

Don’t forget cloud saves. Saving millions of peoples thousands of games I’m sure takes up some disk space and cost even if users don’t launch the game again.

Good friend make throw away accounts for friends leaks

I could see it for self hosting maybe but at that price point why not just by the best nvidia SBC for AI, save a couple $100, and probably better compute.

With Unifi APs you can set the minimum RSI on the individual devices which makes them kick the device off and then the device will generally attempt to connect to the AP with the best signal. This is an advanced setup and some devices might not like getting kicked off though.

This part is the worst part IMO. Designed a currency conversion system so you always put more money in it than you need to purchase the item this does two things and both are a win for the corporate.

  1. Always have unspent money in the account, so kind of like a bank or gift cards, they get the money earlier when it’s worth more and can be utilized to get more faster.
  2. Incentivize the customer to be a repeat customer because you will “waste” your current credits if left unused, so you’ll follow the lost cause fallacy when something you want hits the store, but not really need.

The google proprietary part is e2ee on RCS that use signal and MLS. It is not a standard in the RCS specs.

Intel sold the entire NUC brand to them and I think a stipulation of the deal was they inherit the manufacturer warranty of the brand for Intel’s models too.

Intel NUCs go to Asus for repair now. I had to send one in after it died.

  • The device was not listing as valid serial numbers and such so had to go to support and have them manually create the RMA case after they couldn’t do it
  • the initial RMA emails were instructions with different instructions in the email, PDF, and a webpage. It was the most difficult one I had to follow yet.
  • they didn’t send me a delivery slip until Monday evening, RMA started on Thursday evening. Support person didn’t explain that it would take multiple business days. Funny enough my device was already there before I got the prepaid one.
  • they couldn’t find it for 4 weeks, I had to call in like 4 or 5 times for them to finally find it

Everything makes sense now.

I didn’t confirm it but saw a comment when there was only one level left. They mentioned how to download them and make them playable as your own offline stage. They also mentioned you can download an archive of all the levels about 1 TB of data. The level has 2 or 3 files for each one if I recall correctly.

Edit: found archive link. The process to do it for one levels not automated but from what I read so someone will likely make a tool around the time it actually shuts down. https://archive.org/details/smm_levels

They hardly even do it when paid for others in the US at least. Gotta love bare minimums and lobbying to make those minimums really low.

RCS not working is new, people are saying a magical module fixes it and pay though.

I read of another it was the same physics but different scenario. I think it was like excess energy moves heavy carts up a hill. When energy is needed, these carts get released and their potential energy from hill and the basic idea of regenerative breaking to repurpose it’s kinetic energy.

Read a post on here the other day someone had a few articles linking to studies that apple may not be as privacy respecting as you think. Guess custom roms are the way to go lol.

Ah TIL. From the user perspective they have similarities, but developer side they got some different use cases. Thanks for the references!

I don’t see it as n option in webview under dev settings but… it uses it I believe? Screenshot

If you disable chrome and only have Firefox on it will use Firefox webview. Android should have make it use default browser or have a selection for default webview.

This would also hurt users that need accessibility extensions so they can properly browse websites that don’t have good accessibility features.

Sure but that is a lot more difficult to do when you forget and your a mile down the road and it’s illegal to use your phone while driving. I might use it for my normal drives that I just leave on for reporting and use gmaps for navigation until it’s added though.

I am waiting for an android auto update where it has a mute button for navigation, if it had that I could live with all the inconveniences.

A good example though for iphones is an sma that triggers an exploit that escalates access and allows the entity to install their software that monitors and controls your phone is possible. It even deletes the test. So the end user does not know. It’s used and purchased by governments. I’m sure there are 0 days on Android that would do similarly.

From tracking your to full access of your phone and capable of doing anything without you knowing it or lifting a finger.

Went from pixel 5 to fold, same things happening to my 5 Fold besides thickness is a really good small phone form factor. Very slightly shorter, which pixel 5 was slightly too long for m, and slightly wider so I can one hand reach top an the opposite side with the fold.

I got my pixel fold this Wednesday. I have been enjoying it, but I got two things

  1. What’s the best way to clean the inner screen? Concerned getting too much dust on it. I bought a variety pack of microfiber and found the one put fibers on it, one with out the soft fibers however seemed pretty good at removing most of the dust, I then used sweat from a glass to lightly water / rinse the screen.
  2. I am using KISS launcher. I noticed the taskbar unfolded will hide when it’s not supposed to. Changing navigation temporarily fixed it in the settings. Found Samsung folds had it tied to the action launcher so I them thought to swap to pixel launcher and it seemed to work flawlessly. Now testing out setting pixel launcher to unoptimized so it hopefully runs well and keeps the taskbar working. I saw Android 14 also has enhancements for taskbar so hopefully they are making it not tied to the default launcher then if that’s the case for the pixel fold as well?

Thanks I’ll take a look. Didn’t expect it to pretty much take control of the whole device haha

Does anyone have recommendations for an app that does heart/step/etc health tracking but is FOSS supporting WearOS watches.

I use Fennec it disables telemetry and updates pretty quickly from Firefox upstream releases. Also supports custom sync server and add-ons collection without having to run nightly builds.

Bitwardens auto sync uses push notifications through Google services, so I’d recommend play store for that one if you use multiple devices.

Try wefwef it’s a web app with gesture support. Seems to be one of the more featured GUIs so far.

I saw this app by one of the lemmy devs. It’s an interesting concept and if you’re on Android you can install it. See here

Yeah i got wireless charging pad in my car and with Android auto it drains so much and heats it so much charging stops lol. Hopefully a newer phone will run cooler with a more efficient processor.

There’s 2 android auto, wired, and relatively new wireless. Wireless utilizes Bluetooth and wifi, the car hosts a wifi network and the phone likely gets the connection info from Bluetooth (a handshake of some sort) then uses the WiFi for Android auto likely due to higher bandwidth requirements that Bluetooth wouldn’t be able to do to host a user interface on the cars touchscreen.
