The Quarry

Haven’t completed it yet, so it’ll be the first game I play in 2025 😅

Same! Glad I was introduced to it as well.

Hazelight has put out great games. Really looking forward to this one.

Firefox works fine for me so I’ll stick to it. Chrome will have annotation support for those that need it though.

Google also had a lightweight PDF reader decoupled from Google Drive but it looks like it’s no longer available: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.pdfviewer

Sony already owns Crunchyroll. Giving a corporation this much control over anime/manga would be disastrous.

Adored the game. It’s fun and I love the chill vibes. I wish the in-game map was a bit better to make navigation easier.

I’m all for cat games. Stray, Little Kitty Big City – gimme more!

I have to agree. A16 is looking to include more features and improvements than A15.

6 series (don’t know about 6a) won’t receive major OS updates anymore.

8 and 9 series come with seven years of OS updates.

Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles

A dumpster fire of a situation. 8 years of development, $400 million reported budget, game shut down after 2 weeks and now the studio closed.

AAA gaming is a hot mess right now.

Sony is so annoying with their mandatory PSN requirement.

Started Hellblade II during the weekend. Visually it’s the most impressive game I’ve played so far.

What I struggle with is keeping up with the story and all of the runestones and dialogue and everything. I enjoyed Hellblade I but had to go through the plot on Wikipedia after completing the game to understand what I had just played.

I remember trying K9 years ago and the UI/UX felt hostile to me trying to add accounts and I uninstalled it. Tried it again last year or so and it was painless. It just worked.

It’s now my default email app and I look forward to improvements as it becomes Thunderbird.

Happy to answer! Don’t worry I don’t bite haha.

Its draws for me were:

  • Portability: Carry it wherever you want. Game on the couch or on the go.
  • Price: Starts at 400 USD.
  • Performance: It has decent performance.
  • Ease of use: It’s plug and play like a console. Don’t have to mess around with settings if you don’t want to.
  • Dockable: Use any USB C dock to connect it to your monitor/TV and play games on a larger screen.
  • Linux PC: Switch to Desktop Mode and it’s now a regular computer.
  • Not restricted to Steam: If you have a game library on other service such as GOG or Epic, you can use a third-party launcher like Heroic.
  • Repairability: Valve’s been good about providing spare parts. You can upgrade storage on your own.
  • Comes with a nice carry case.

Drawbacks that I found:

  • Certain games aren’t supported on Linux - especially many multiplayer games with anti-cheat.
  • It’s heavy: My fingers fatigue far quicker as compared to a Nintendo Switch. Haven’t tried other handhelds so I can’t provide a comparison with them.

I was pleasantly surprised by Teardown’s campaign. Didn’t expect it to be that good. Completed the story in the base game and had a lot of fun.

Ran well on the Steam Deck.

The article undersells the amount that’s been leaked. Taking a look at the X/Twitter account the article linked to, there are beta sprites of gen 3/4/5 Pokemon being shared. Allegedly the source code for Black 2/White 2 is out there as well.

Future Halo Games Moving to Unreal Engine 5 as 343 Industries Rebrands, ‘Multiple Projects’ in Development

Tried the demo for it a while ago. So eerie.

Definitely want to give it a try in the future.

Plan on playing Alan Wake’s American Nightmare?

I played it a few days ago. Been a while since I played AW and I enjoy Remedy’s games so it was worth checking out for me.

I thought it was alright. Aside from the main character, the voice acting is ridiculously goofy.

$80/yr subscription to play online

30% cut from all sales

Ads on homescreen

Lackluster game library, busy remastering perfectly good games

Single purpose device

PS5 will be my last ever console. I don’t see the value proposition in consoles anymore with the rise of PC handhelds.

Came across this video critiquing the gameplay of some out of the sheer number of "cozy" games coming out recently. Wondering what everyone's opinions are on cozy games. Do you feel the same or do you have differing opinions on them?
fedilink

Geez. Awful use of resources remastering games that already look great.

They’ve been trying to phase out the 64 GB and 512 GB Steam Decks for a while now. Surprised they still have so many in stock.

Surprised to see it 98% off. I thought Steam capped discounts to 90% a few years ago?

I had an F310 and I disliked it haha. Never found it to be ergonomic.

20 Small Mazes

If you’re looking to kill a couple hours and love puzzle games, give 20 Small Mazes a go. I really enjoyed the variety.

Best of all, it’s free.

Enjoyed Jedi Fallen Order. Definitely got my butt kicked towards the end in terms of game difficulty.

I enjoyed playing Toodee and Topdee with my roommate. Fun puzzle game. Can be played singleplayer or multiplayer. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1303950/Toodee_and_Topdee/

Minecraft Dungeons is also quite fun for co-op. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1672970/Minecraft_Dungeons/

On the same boat.

I definitely want to go back and complete it some day.

Yeah it’s been wonky for me as well on the default Lemmy web UI.

Maybe for a month if I’m on a trip to a remote location. Don’t really see a use for it other than that.

Xbox takes a 30% cut from devs, has ads on its console and wants to charge a subscription for online gaming (now raising its price by 25%). Can’t triple dip like this, Microsoft.

Haven’t renewed PS Plus either since its price hike. Just gonna play disc games on my PS5 till the end of its lifespan.

  • KDE Connect: Transfer files, clipboard, notifications between your phone and computer on your local network.
  • Unit Lab: Easy converter. Allows you to add different units together (eg. 5kg + 10lb + 4 stone).
  • Seal: Great front-end for yt-dlp. Allows you to download YT/IG/TikTok videos. Would like to see IG image download support.
  • AVNC: VNC client, allowing me to remotely access my laptop from my phone via local network.
  • Binary Eye: Barcode scanner with the option to turn on scan history.
  • Copy: Copy text from apps that otherwise may not allow you to copy text. Also allows for easy taking of screenshots.
  • Save To…: Useful for saving certain files that sometimes don’t give the option to save.
  • Secure Tether: Share your mobile data as a hotspot for other phones/computers, bypassing your provider’s restrictions on hotspot.

> Remember that these were estimates from more than three years ago and before Microsoft completed its acquisition of ZeniMax in March 2021, so there’s always the chance that some of these plans have changed dramatically or been scrapped entirely. But they may provide an early look at some of the games we can look forward to from Microsoft down the road.

PSA: If you still have a Mojang account for Minecraft: Java Edition, you have less than a week left to migrate to a Microsoft account to avoid profile deletion
Thought I'd share this in case there are people who are unaware or have been pending off the migration process. > Starting September 19, 2023, at 11:00 am EST/17:00 pm CEST, unmigrated Mojang accounts will not be able to sign in to Minecraft.net or the Minecraft Launcher to migrate. We’re doing this to ensure that everyone is playing using accounts with improved security and player safety. > Source: [Minecraft.net article](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/account-migration-last-call) #### What will happen to unmigrated accounts? > Once the deadline for migration is reached, players will no longer be able to access unmigrated accounts. All unmigrated accounts will be deleted at a future date. > Source: [help.minecraft.net](https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/15690553323789) #### What if you don't have access to the email address associated with your Mojang account, or have any other queries? The details are unclear. The Minecraft help center link says "*Minecraft player support will no longer be able to help with migration-related issues after September 5, 2023.*" whereas the minecraft.net article states "*[...] starting September 19, 2023, Minecraft Support will no longer be able to assist in any MSA migration-related tickets.*" #### What do you get for migrating to a Microsoft account? Microsoft claims improved account security, and 2FA. You will get a Migrator cape and access to Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock Edition) on the Microsoft account chosen at the time of migration.
