As a Linux gamer the idea of unauthorized software is absolutely absurd. Also spending billions on “security” to make sure only approved games are played then approving slop.

Granted 90% of the components they used in SteamOS are readily available open source components, the componets they did make they did also open source (such as gamescope).

Or they’re free if you’re willing to sail the high seas

Yup, Half Life 3 will happen any day now… Any day now

At least Valve takes some of the money that they make from Steam and use it for Steam. You cant run an entire gaming platform based on developers alone, you also need to make it at least somewhat bearable for consumers.

Yes, on a smallsubset of their laptops. Not even half of their products will have the option to ship without Windows (and none of their products that they put on third party retailers such as Amazon or Best Buy so you will have to use their website just to know they exist).

Tbh no not really, as long a OEMs either dont ship Linux at all or only niche OEMs do (or major OEMs on a small subset of their products) Linux will be a niche. The European Market still relies on American OEMs which means they have been cornered by Microsoft.

Truly proof that gamers are the most oppressed people, its so joever /s

Yes but the act of dumping a game or acquiring it in any capacity is illegal (circumventing DRM measures) as well as running the game (which also requires circumventing DRM measures)

Yeah, sometimes there are software that just won’t have a Linux version. Thats to be expected because Linux isnt a Windows clone so itll never run all Windows software. If that software is important to you I would reccomend just installing Windows 11.

I have personally been using Linux for a few years now and I absolutely love it, however a lot of people will switch to Linux and be extremely disappointed. If you’re going into Linux expecting an open source Windows clone you’ll be solely mistaken. If you want an operating system that looks and works exactly like W11 youll be better off installing W11 and using something like classic shell. However if you’re willing to accept that its a completely different OS (so it naturally will work differently and have different software) then go ahead.

Pretty much, 1% of games don’t work on Linux and its the top 1% most popular games

Its a secure app store thats easy to install on GraphineOS (secure rom)

Ironfox is nice, thats what I personally use. Its more secure than base Firefox (and importantly for me its in Accrescent)

The only phones that support it are either old or niche, I love my Google Pixel 9 and I would rather not give it up (I also love GraphineOS)

Brutal Wolfenstein is a great mod for GZDoom (and free with freedoom). Imagine the original wolfenstein but you get to stain the walls with the blood of nazis. The difficulty is significantly increased, weapons hit harder, and everything is better.

Damn, and I was acturally exited for this. Now I get the feeling that it’ll be like every other AAA game.

Brutal Wolfenstein is a very fun game, you truly get to experience spilling Nazi blood :3

Blasting Nazis in wolfesntein is fun but not as fun as the real thing >:3

They could have implemented a simple compatibility layer to play Switch 1 games

I personally dont get why they went with Nvidia again, they make cheap mobile processors and I doubt this one will be any different. Imo they should have gone with a low end AMD APU based on Ryzen 9000.

It’ll probrally rely on DLSS so heavily that input lag will be crazy and image quality terrible. Genuenly I have no idea why they didnt switch to AMD.

It doesn’t matter how much cheaper or more powerful it is if AMD cant secure OEM partners for being difficult to work with

You can use any controller but imo none feel as comfortable as the original steam controller in my larger hands, also the touchpads are nice.

Yeah but controller options are limited, the Steam Controller is expensive used and there isnt a replacement.

Gaymers are the most oppressed group, literally 1984

You forgot one small detail, Nintendo doesn’t need a legal basis to sue. They have more money which allows them to weaponize the legal system against anyone they don’t like. Any small team like this cant even afford lawyers.

Tbh I’m more exited about the Deckard and its controller then the steam controller. I wonder what features it will have :3

Tbh they should just turn it into a google Linux distro, IMO just bundle Gnome with it and add flatpak support

Tbh I kinda hope Bethesda doesn’t make a new Fallout game, I predict if they do make a new one it’ll make Fallout 76 look like New Vegas in comparison.
