I don’t know what happened in details but I really don’t hate him, as a member of the video game industry he has the right to make his voice heard.

I’m still glad consumers won here :)

I’m very excited to play Part II too, I just need a break because they’re not the most relaxing break. And I realized when playing Left Behind that the loop became kinda repetitive because I was able to predict most of the shenanigans that happened lol

[SPOILERS] Just finished The Last Of Us Part I, what an amazing game
I played it on my Steam Deck, 30 FPS average with lots of audio crackling, apparently because of the CPU load. I played the game in hard mode because I was afraid survivor and grounded would break the balance. The gameplay is great: it was insanely fun outsmarting the infected, circling around the clickers, burning the bloaters. Against those enemies, stealth really was a challenge and I had to manage my stress level (stalkers and runners were especially hard to deal with in the sewer); I'm convinced I would not be able to finish this game in permanent death as certain sequences took me 5-7 tries to do correctly (optimizing to use the least amount of gear or straight up surviving). It was really hard to aim well enough on a controller to be able to do headshot with consistency (this game with a controller and a mouse must feel like heaven to master). Stealth against humans is way too easy though: you can easily never use your weapons and just throw a glass bottle against the wall, cleanup with a bomb or a Molotov, and you will never be punished when doing a stealthy kill if you take too long which basically means that shiv are useless for anything other than doors (I did not buy the ability to get off the grasp of clickers with shivs). The hostage mechanic felt so cool, but I rarely used it because I felt like I couldn't afford to waste bullets because of the resource scarcity. I would have loved the game to be more punishing and to force me to spend my gear; I was never spotted and I am _horrible_ at stealth (hello Cyberpunk 2077). On the writing side, the game shines even more. I was so heartbroken when Sarah was murdered, when Tess sacrificed herself, when Sam turned and Henry killed himself, when Joel said horrible things to Ellie, when he murdered all the fireflies, the surgeon, Marlene in cold blood. And that's where the game shines! It shows you this great dynamics between Joel and Ellie, this growing bond that is so precious. You despise and love Joel: you despise his lack of moral, his emotional immaturity (not wanting to talk about the hard stuff and lying to Ellie) but you understand where it comes from, you understand why the violence happened. This constant tension, this gray area makes the game so real and gripping; you can only look with a mix of disgust and support as you're ripping your way through the enemies in the hospital with savagery. What Joel did is unequivocally wrong and selfish but I cannot judge because I know full well I'd probably have done the same thing in this situation. Well, I'm not sure but I can see it. This game really made me understand the complexity of moral and decision, the conflicting goals and the harshness of survival. I highly look forward to playing the sequel. EDIT; I think the right difficulty for me is the "Survivor" one, grounded looks to hard without a mouse.

Abiotic Factor, survival in a facility like Half-Life with crafting, survival and exploration. Really great game and it’s pretty hard understanding where to go

That’s so impressive ! I wish I had more insight to this, I’m not a graphic dev nor a game Dev but those things are super interesting

I don’t even know how they achieved that ! Do they directly reuse engine code in UE5 CPP? There must have been some porting yo do right ?

I just loved how simpled the gameplay is in surface but it gets extremely interesting and challenging once you want to do all the boss rushes :)

I realized the full extent of the work that went into it

What’s the rational for companies to do that ? Is Discord financially viable? With all those users, I’d assume they would have reimbursed VCs money ?

That’s so great, DS3 is my favorite game with Sekiro from Fromsoftware but I was playing Elden Ring more lately because my friend could join me !

Yesterday I finished the badlands race and when she dropped me off, she hit me with the car…

I don’t need bigger game I just want Shakespearian spectacular quest and events, gripping storylines, and endearing character.

You could have a tiny map full of passion and I would love the game.

You’re so right! Vision by itself can only do so much if it’s not helped with expertise. To be totally transparent I’m not super convinced by VR virtual worlds. I feel like Lemmy is a great “universe” because it’s interoperate and it really gives it the independence that a true universe need to have!

The metaverse will not be built by a company but will emerge from a universal, accessible technology.

Terraria has all the ingredients of a great game:

  • passionate developers
  • great progression
  • great gameplay
  • great bosses
  • the sense of discovery and excitement is profound and enthralling
  • you dont need a good PC to run it

Every game tries to be the next big thing but they all seem to fail to understand that what made games like Minecraft so great was their portability/runnability !

Star Citizen is a prime example of that: tries so hard to be great, 99% of people can’t run it. It doesn’t matter. On the other hands: Terraria is a complete experience that has been gradually extended/improved/optimized and can run on almost any PC.

I’m looking for contradiction because I see no evidence of my take being wrong. That’s also how League of Legends got so big: you could install it on high school PC lol

Sekiro truly did that to me, especially the boss rush where I took a chug of water before getting started and got into the flow zone for the next hour.

Why is it that this enormous business is consistently setting up itself for failure?

I don’t want to touch League anymore, I want to boycott Overwatch so I’m waiting for this game like the messiah it is :)

Characterization, world building and real dilemmas for the player will be the future of Fallout, not photorealistic graphics & live service features

It’s an open-source software called ImHex (it’s amazing) made in C++ with the library « ImGUi »

Exactly what I thought lol I need to find the ROM too , I loved this game as a kid

You’re right, DoTa is a lot more chaotic, but there’s a lot of action on the map! Macro play is not necessarily doing nothing in this game and often time fight breakout for runes, etc…

I think it’s about preference rather than reality because we had two completely different experiences so yeah, I love League but I don’t see the point of playing it now!

Ahaha no I swear to god Dota 2 is ridiculously fun

In LoL you play the same game over and over again.

Yesterday on dota I planted trees with my friends to hide and wait for people to come to ambush them lol

You can do all sort of funny stuff, TPing people in your base etc… everything is OP so you don’t feel like you have no agency. You feel like it’s just your skills that are lacking!

Just create a character that ressembles him in Divinity Original Sin III

Did you play a MOBA because you can really get a taste of the versatility of the movement. I promise you, there is a LOT to master here

When I mean master it, I meant learning to play with the clicking to click at the right speed to kite, sidestep spells.

You do not click far away from you an try to get there, you continuously click to get your character where it needs to go.

For exemple in Starcraft, in close range combat you need to master micro to be able to win. Stick to the wall so they can’t circle around you, etc…

Interesting! It’s true that I like playing Larian Studios games with keyboard because I sometimes send spells in the wall or steal items without wanting to with a controller !

Do you feel like top-down point-and-click movement is not precise?
I was watching the IGN overview on “No Rest For The Wicked” and they say that they abandoned the point-and-click system in favor of WASD because it was not precise enough. I don’t mind it, either way is fine. However I love the League of Legends type of movement, it’s a factor that makes me still play the game. (DotA has even better and precise movement mechanics but they are less fun I think) It’s hard to master yeah, with the unlocked camera and all but I feel like you can be very precise and do exactly what you want: it is very satisfying. What do you think? Do you know other games that use this point-and-click movement?
