Piranha Bytes’ upcoming science fantasy-themed action role-playing game, Elex 3, may have been canceled, and the studio possibly closed down.
Absolute shite news tbh, even if I wasn’t a fan of anything after Risen 1 it still sucks to see them go.

Saw the headline, wondered what had happened, and then saw that they were owned by Embracer. It’s a shame to see them go. Gothic has been on my list of series to try for a while now and the Elex games looked interesting.
The good old embrace of death…
Oh no. The Click4Gameplay guy had me excited about their games. https://youtube.com/@click4gameplay
Well shit :( I really liked the Elex games, jank and all!
This hurts to read.
Their games were rough around the edges but sure as hell showed a lot of passion. The lore and attention to detail that went into their worlds were unparalleled, especially in the open world genre where lots of content is just generic copy-pasted fetch quests or mindlessly following the Ubisoft formula.
I never finished the first Elex (the combat was way too unforgiving imo; it took me like 5 minutes just to kill one of those river raptor looking things) but I loved the trailer for Elex 2. I thought it went really hard.
