Set in a universe parodying poorly managed MMORPGs, even the inventory sort feature has stopped working. It's now up to you to organize the players' messy bags and handle their occasional complaints.
One of my most played games is Backpack Hero, a dungeon crawler where inventory management is the core mechanic. The idea is that you don’t just make stuff fit in the available space, but also items position including, but not exclusively, in relation to other items provides various effects and bonuses. This game looks like something akin to that.
I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely satisfying to try coming up with new combos and strategies to get the most ridiculous and overpowered bonuses.
Honestly I tried the story mode they added and it doesn’t really add much for me. I’d much prefer if they kept on adding items and challenge runs that force you to make different choices.
I hate inventory management, because it takes away from the fun parts of the game. When it is the game, they’ve made the effort to make it fun (or it’s just a bad game).
If you like puzzle games, an inventory managenent game is just one of those, basically. It stands on how good the puzzles are.

Heh, I hate this inventory management in the games, but there is a separate game for it now, and it seems interesting. Why!?

At one point every time I did a new run of Backpack hero I could find some new absurdly broken item combo. It’s fun.
Yeah it’s insanely replayable.
