I was unimpressed by the trailer and general appearance of all the characters. Very unfaithful to the game, so I don’t expect much to anything from the plot or dialogue. Definitely going to wait to watch until the fan reviews drop, if at all.
It looks like a video game movie from the late 90’s/early 2000’s or earlier. You know, when they didn’t give a shit about the source material and just used the name to sell tickets and the movies just sucked so much.
Poorly lit, cutty action sequences, annoying jokes that last way too long… And this is what they show in the trailers. Can’t even imagine how awful the stuff not used to advertise it is.
Tales feature a new set of character telling a new set of stories interacting with new set of environment. The new movie use the same set of character but different personalities, same set of environments and fighting the same set of enemy, it’s retelling of the same story but with different take, basically a fanfic much like the Halo tv series.

It seems to be really oddly timed. I’m really embarrassed for Cate Blanchett; I thought she was more selective about her roles.
