Hello, tone-policing genocide-defender and/or carnist 👋

Instead of being mad about words, maybe you should think about why the words bother you more than the injustice they describe.

Have a day!

Good things take time. But it seems close enough to ready if you didn’t accidentally by a Nvidia garbage GPU. You can already run the Steam Deck image on most AMD hardware just fine.

I just desperately want more new games like Crash, Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, etc. 😭

The only thing we’ve gotten in the decades since then was A Hat in Time, which was absolutely terrific, but the lack of other good games in this genre pretty much killed gaming as a hobby for me.

And justice was served. I got a whole $12 for their wrongdoing!

It’s a temporary ban. That is less of a consequence than what you’d face for airing a little too much copyrighted content or something, except for saying shit that could have come from Hitler’s mouth.

Yeah. I intentionally buy my games on Steam for ethical reasons because Valve contributes to a positive gaming ecosystem by making things run seamlessly on Linux.

GOG contributes to a negative gaming ecosystem by making Windows the “easy” option and not making use of Proton (or similar tech). Hopefully they fix that one day, but they don’t seem to care.

Buying the game without DRM is great. But the fact that people don’t have the option to buy it in any store they want is annoying, and we can thank Epic for that. Epic is poison and they earned the hate they get.

I’m happy to get the refund from Valve when scumfuck companies decide to rug-pull like this. If it happens, it’s usually long after I’ve beaten the story and become bored with the game. It’s a win for me 🙂

Why are you being so obtuse? Yes, the repercussions for losing to Nintendo in court are life-ruining. I said that already.

However, continuing to let Nintendo DMCA legitimate emulation projects isn’t good in the long-term either and only stalls progress for the targeted projects.

The only way to “win” this fight is to win in court. I’m not saying that any dev should be compelled against their will to do so. It’s just the only way to actually make progress. This isn’t a technical problem; it’s a legal one.

Gamers are only capable of remembering these things right up until the next first-party exclusive and new console gets announced. Then, it’s right back to opening their wallets for these fuckers.

The only way to truly win this fight is for the devs to face potentially life-ruining circumstances to fight it in court. Until then, Nintendo will continue harassing devs and killing the development progress of emulators.

Yep. Fuck Nintendo. I don’t care how good their games might be, they’re not getting another dime from me for as long as they’re hostile to their community and customers.

Is anyone else bothered (but not surprised) by the fact that Amazon/Twitch agreed to cover it up for him? Seems pretty wild that they should be off the hook for working to protect his image after doing predatory shit like this.

Reporting back:

I tried installing The Witcher and Psychonaut. Both worked mostly seemlessly after prompting to install Wine-GE. The main issue I’m having is with controller support, but this may just be a result of trying much older games and mixing that with trying to use Steam Input through the Heroic launcher. I suspect this can be alleviated by using the “Automatically add games to Steam” option and launching the games through Steam, rather than Heroic. Alternatively, if you’re willing to map your bindings for each game, or you are on something other than a Steamdeck and use keyboard and mouse, you should be fine.

I recommend giving a game you already own on Gog a try and seeing how it works for you.

I’ve heard that the Heroic launcher is good for this. I’ll try it out on my Steamdeck and report back.

Servo cannot come soon enough. And yet… it’s so far from being even close to ready for real usage.

I played the demo for this. The atmosphere is excellent. It’s like a cross between Silent Hill and the PSX Final Fantasy games. This is definitely worth a look if you haven’t heard of it before.

If it runs Windows, I’m out. SteamOS has too many niceties that can’t just be bolted-on to Windows.

Android desperately needs something like iOS Shortcuts. Here’s hoping someone in the comments knows of something similar.
