I picked up the base for III after sinking countless hours in II and LOD. It was so much less fun and more grindy… maybe some people like it, but it didn’t hook me like I & II did. I never even finished the base game I got maybe 10-20yrs tops and gave up. Luckily it was on a steep discount at the time.
HFW has a mode where the HUD doesn’t show you any of the things you need to find… like rocks, bushes, parts, etc. it’s more immersive and I beat the game with that mode on without too much trouble. Watching my wife play with the normal HUD showed me I probably missed a few things here and there but nothing crazy. I was always able to find enough healing and rocks and I got all the collectibles (I 100%’d it, I just didn’t go back and NG+ on Ultra Hard like she did)
Once you set it up, it’s fairly low maintenance. I’ve got one setup at my parents house with a cron job set to auto update blocking lists and software. The hardest part is finding the right combo of lists that block everything you don’t want but allow what you do.
The Pi it’s on also has plenty of power for a vpn server as well so I can hop into their network when they have issues or to do data syncing.
And yeah, I’ve brought it up with security and they’re thinking about network level blocking. They don’t like browser plugins that basically need access to inspect content on every single web page you crawl. Who knows what data might leak.
You used to be able to resell your PC games too, back in the day.
Why can’t PC games also come on discs? The last one I had the option to buy on disc I remember was Skyrim. When I put the disc in, it launched steam, connected my purchase to my account, and steam did the remainder of the install over the network. Turns out, it didn’t really have anything useful on disc.
I bought this months ago right after update 5. Figured I’d get my $20 out of it and move on… now that I’m over 100hrs, they throw this out and I’m back in there making aqua ducts.
Not to mention they opened it up to modding and custom maps, this update added quite a bit. If you like city building management sims this is a must play. I’ve honestly played more of it than City Skylines. Just struck a chord with me.
Considering how long Apple has been putting neural cores in all their chips, and the speed at which their in house chips have outpaced competitors (like the M series for example), I feel like not only will Apple beat nvidia at this, Apple will do so by a decent amount.
That said, nvidia will continue to sell world wide in this market as Apple will keep their chips in only their own hardware, so if you’re not running a Mac/IOS device, you’ll be using nvidia chips.
Either way, even if Apple just keeps up, competition is still best for everyone, so I welcome this development.
As someone who tossed 1k hrs into PC1, and half that into Planet Zoo, I’m pretty stoked about this announcement. Everyone asked for Planet Waterpark, so now we get both in one package. Hopefully they’ve been able to address some of the pain points of the first one and add in what was learned from Planet Zoo and make a polished result here, but time will tell.
Also, hoping they continue the history of having solid soundtracks!
It’s in reference to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_Touch
That said, it was discontinued in favor of Haptic Touch a while back.
Toyota, the world’s largest carmaker by volume, will include technology from tech giant Tencent technology in a China-made passenger vehicle that will go on sale this year, said Toyota’s Yiming Xu, a director for brand and communications for China.
So, that makes it sound like they’re just tailoring their Chinese market cars for that market. Seems like a normal thing to do.
It’s still rings true today. Science moving faster than society is how we end up with things like AI, driverless cars, etc, where science and technology don’t match laws and expectations which don’t match up with societal requirements. To some extent, society puts checks and balances on science and technology. That’s a good thing overall. But oftentimes society elects individuals that aren’t realistic thinkers and instead of keeping science in check, they’d rather relive the past.
We always need to push forward, embrace change and new ways of doing things, but we need to make sure we don’t move too fast while also not pumping the brakes too hard. that’s a hard balance to find.
Where are they going? Most of the ones I follow are along the “this sucks, but it’s the only real game in town”, so I’d be interested to check alternatives and see what’s there.
The big problem with any social or content centric platform is that new ones are only useful for consumers if there are creators and only useful for creators if there are consumers.
I once installed a 540MB hard drive in my 486/33, dumped the Wing Commander Privateer CD onto it, and was amazed at how fast it ran, the lack of loading wait, and just how much more smooth it was than my 4x speed CDROM. It was great for a few days until I needed the space (I didn’t buy it just for gaming).
Yea, I feel old.
Honestly, does anyone really know about the CEO? I feel like she’s got a free ride. No one is going to say she tanked Twitter when Elon publicly announces everything stupid thing he wants done and says he picked it and he’s the brains behind it. If Twitter fails, it’s because Elon is a self absorbed moron, not because the CEO made a mistake. Which is kinda “doing it wrong” from the “we’ll hire some lady as CEO and blame her for the drop in revenue and engagement and then fire her for some cheap good will” idea that boards tend to go with.
Honestly I feel like if the CEO of Twitter made a mistake, it’d be an improvement over Elon’s changes.
As someone who is “left” we’ve never liked him. He’s always been an over privileged asshole bully born with a silver spoon and a lack of brains.
What we liked was the original EV that he tried to stamp his name on… the original Tesla roadster. That Tesla, however was only bought out (by getting enough Stock to have a controlling share) by and eventually mass produced by Elon. He didn’t found Tesla that was Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard.
I’d you read their Guiding principles, you can see how Elon trashed it… just like he’s doing with X. Except he was able to at least get the engineers to make something sorta useful with Tesla. Instead of firing them all like he did X… we’ll, sorta, there were massive layoffs at Tesla as well.
I worry that the more useful and prevalent high speed trains become, the more the population will use them… and the more likely the long useless queues will also move to trains.
Trains can have more stations to spread out the load, but then they won’t be as high speed.
Still, I’ll happily take advantage of the currently short queues.
Close, it’s German. Basically an LLC.
