The God of War reboot released on the PS4, where it also “didn’t need” loading screens.

The PS5 does still need some time to load anything, it’s not magic. You can expand a PS5 with M.2 NVMe storage, which is also used in many PCs.

The benefits of the PS5/NVMe storage are greatly reduced loading times and faster data streaming (which enables, for example, the ability to move faster through a higher fidelity NYC in Spiderman without buildings visibly popping in).

I use Ecosia nearly exclusively.

I don’t like it as much as DDG; which has a somewhat better privacy focus, more widgets, and better support for “bangs”.
But the bangs I really care about are still there, it’s European and working on a European search index along with Quant, and the trees are pretty cool too.

As is it still relies on either Bing or Google for the results, but oh well. So does basically every alternative search engine, and I’d rather go through Ecosia than directly through those two.

It’s better, yeah. But that doesn’t mean it’s good. Ideal would be them simply paying for a voice actor to record all the lines, which in the case of Arc Raiders they now thankfully appear to be doing.

In a vacuum, in this instance, I’m mostly inclined to agree.
It normalising the practice is what I dislike.

No-one else, or at least as high profile, was doing AI voicework in their games. Embark were essentially the first with The Finals.
One successful game/studio doing it opens the door for other studios to start doing it.

They don’t seem to have gone about it in a bad way, but it still further opens the door to more icky practices.

It can be useful for generating switch cases and other such not-quite copy-paste work too. There are reasonable use cases… if you ignore how the training data was sourced.

Furthermore Roblox “taxes” their “developers” at various points.

It’s been a while, but I believe there’s a percentage fee on the premium currency spent on the game, then there’s another percentage fee when you cash the premium currency out for real money.

Same. Waiting for it to get a bit more stable before I start pushing my less savvy friends to make the jump.

They removed the clown reaction, as well as the ability to get points for receiving reactions.
If that ever was an excuse, it no longer is.

takes the same cut from each key sold as every other platform

That is just blatantly wrong. Steam takes 30%, Epic takes 12% after the first $1M.

Consoles, though I suppose those aren’t what you’re talking about.

And Playground Games is a subsidiary of microsoft? I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove here.

Don’t buy Microslop products

Especially with microsoft seemingly giving up on (gaming) hardware

Valve has only made mention of streaming bandwidth, nothing about the game being rendered (like how PSVR2 does it). As it stands it won’t do anything for the GPU performance.
Maybe there’s some sort of API games will be able to hook into, I seriously hope so.

Not necessarily.

Ubisoft might argue that it will open up another attack vector, with isn’t entirely unreasonable. But they could support it.

I can’t say having to fiddle around with Proton versions is exactly intuitive, though it has gotten better since last I tried it a year or so ago.

It is still not quite as smooth as it is on Windows, and I have tech-normie friends who want to do nothing more than download and press play.

EasyAntiCheat and BattlEye both support Linux/Proton, though not all devs have enabled/updated it.

That does actually export all my tags. To some sort of weird csv-like format, but they sure are exported. Will have to look into the import format if/when I decide on a new service. Thanks again for the tip.

Samsung has a Smart Switch client which you can just install on your PC, so that’s convenient.

To be clear, OCR isn’t out of scope for Immich and we do plan to implement it. It just isn’t part of our pre-stable roadmap, so other things take priority for now. We’ll work on OCR after the stable release.

Something to hold out for

Neat, definitely something to look into

It seems my profile was somehow marked as such. I think I fixed it now

I’m not a bot, I’m not sure how my post got listed as such

Gallery app with tags and OCR
I am still holding onto my S22 for a while yet, but I am looking for something non-Samsung as my next device (probably Fairphone). Whilst I think I can do without most of Samsung's features, I do really like the gallery app and what it offers. Background OCR so I can search for text in an image, and manual as well as automatic tags. The built-in editor is also nice, but there are alternatives for that. The main reason I like using manual tags and OCR is for quickly sharing memes I've saved over the years. I have resigned myself to losing the tags I've already created, as it doesn't seem those can be exported. But I have yet to find a gallery app in which I can slowly start rebuilding my set. Here's some of what I've come across: * Google's gallery is not an option for me. I want to move away from big tech. * [Aves](https://github.com/deckerst/aves) supports tags, but is very laggy to use and has no automatic OCR/tags. * [PhotoPrism](https://www.photoprism.app/) doesn't support OCR. * [Ente](https://ente.io/) doesn't do OCR or manual tags. * ["Gallery"](https://github.com/IacobIonut01/Gallery) looks promising, but does not yet have the feature set I'm looking for. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

some manufactured internet culture war drama.

Some rightists got triggered because the game didn’t appeal exclusively to them. Of course they’d pick up a departure like this… sigh

The current Switch still selling as much as it does proves that performance doesn’t really matter.

Didn’t you know? Portugal is part of Eastern Europe.

Did anything more happen?

I stopped watching them after Frost’s video. Which is a shame, I did like Yahtzee and didn’t mind Design Delve.

Do you think MachineGames is known for watered down bland sequels?

Don’t worry, the content mill and increasingly short deadlines set by their corporate overlords will do that to them!

It’s a gift link?

Maybe your add-ins ‘cleaned’ the link somehow, but if you use the full one you can read the article.

The manufacturer can also lock the bootloader, but carriers in the US are a special kind of fucky.

I tried switching to Aurora, but apps updated through there no longer appear in Android Auto for some reason (Spotify, Smart Audiobook Player)

It’s going to be based on user votes, and given just how popular that game was I don’t think it unlikely to win.

I see. There’s stuff such as apkmirror, but an official way to do it is better.

What do you use it for, when you’re outside network range?

I’ve never been in a situation where it felt necessary.

Black Myth Wukong had one of the highest concurrent player counts of Steam of all time. The game was very popular in China.

Meanwhile Astrobot’s sales figures were lacklustre, according to some reports.
