Kadokawa has confirmed that it has received a letter of intent from Sony to acquire the company. Kadokawa owns a majority share in FromSoftware, as well as several anime production houses.
I have a feeling their intention here is less about acquiring FromSoftware and more about getting those anime production houses so they can continue to monopolize the industry. FromSoftware would be a happy accident.

With CrunchyRoll’s acquisition Sony basically monopolized anime streaming in the west. This would only add to that
