That’s a shame, I like that it asks which kind of note you want. Most notes I make are in the form of checklists, and the choice of format when starting a new note felt much more convenient than opening a note and then having to turn it into a list afterwards.

No, I think it was right the first time :-)

Great. Now remove the restriction on sharing a photo with someone if it’s “already in this conversation”.

Yes, I may well have shared it before. Yes, I now want to share it again. Why is that a problem?

My favourite line is the one about how FIFA has “learned its lessons” from Qatar.

The lessons being, apparently, to make the same idiotic, money-grabbing choices as before, with no regard for fan culture, human rights, or even basic morality.

Fuck FIFA.

Four, I think. So a mooch can also be known as a quartruss.

Yeah, Scotland did me a favour by not qualifying, making it much easier to resist watching.

Presumably they had similar moral objections to the hosts of 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018… That must be it, right? 😞

They might not be found guilty. Hell, depending on the specifics of the case and the wording of the rules, they might not even BE guilty (at least technically).

And if they are found guilty, we don’t know what the punishment will be. It could be any of the things you say won’t happen.

Although clearly for a lot of people nothing will be viewed as enough of a punishment.

Just because the hearing has finished does not mean that there’s a conclusion yet. Having heard all evidence it’ll now need to be considered in its entirety and written up into a final decision, plus any potential penalties.

You don’t say that a jury trial is dodgy if there’s not a guilty verdict and sentencing within 5 minutes of closing arguments.

I have seen it enforced once and only once. It was the last minute of a preseason friendly, and cost my team a 1-0 lead, as the other team scored (indirectly) from the resulting free kick. I couldn’t believe the ref would choose then to apply a rule so commonly ignored.

What a season for Forest, after some pretty bad ones in recent years. Great to see them back up among the best.

He did it twice.

The first time it was to Liverpool fans, in response to them chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning”. It was all entirely good natured banter to my eye - he had already chuckled at the song and turned to have a wee dig back at them, still smiling. All in good fun, despite some people in the media and social trying to make it out to be something more confrontational.

The second time was after full time, when he went over to the City fans, and although I didn’t see it at the time, I think it was really just a sign of “we’ve achieved so much, don’t be downhearted, we’ll be back,” etc.

Dav Macgyver’s Photo Editor is pretty solid for that sort of thing. Not FOSS as far as I know, but very good. Used it for about 10 years now.

Remember when Google Photos was basically perfect? And then they started messing around with it? I 'member :-(

Well, that's a bit awkward... "Coote was the video assistant referee when a challenge by the Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on Virgil van Dijk that left the Liverpool defender with an anterior cruciate ligament injury went unpunished." "Coote also drew the ire of Klopp as the VAR for the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal last December after an apparent handball in the box by Martin Ødegaard did not lead to a penalty."

That’s odd, I can use that gesture from any app. Wonder if it’s phone-specific.

It was fun while it lasted. Fingers crossed the Utd board continue their recent run of success in managerial appointments.

I use Total Launcher, and it has this (and in fact you can swipe in 4 directions ⬆️⬇️⬅️➡️ rather than just the 2 that Nova offers).

Means that from my home screen I could, in theory, access 48 different apps/actions/shortcuts, as well as opening the 12 folders they represent. I use about 40 of them, but it’s good to have space for more if I want it.

This shit needs to be nipped in the bud before it becomes normalised. Horrible idea.

Translated version:

Wouldn’t go that far, but I think Portugal would do better without him.

However, my ire towards him is more for his personality and petulance. Can’t wait until he finally calls it quits.

Decent showing from Scotland so far, at least it is given the quality of the visitors.

One thing I wish we would cut out though is always, ALWAYS, turning and passing back when there’s a chance to play a forward ball. It’s so unambitious, and allows Portugal to sit in relative comfort. We can’t just always rely on set pieces.

Oh, also, I wish our players could control the ball. Doesn’t seem too much to ask.

Wtf? That sounds dodgy as hell.

You can only swipe down to minimize a video if it’s the first video in a playlist (or not part of a playlist at all).

That seems really daft. Things like swipe gestures work on muscle memory - but if you have yo also consciously remember whether what you’re watching is in a playlist or not, it’s much less intuitive.

I like swipe down to minimise and use it a lot. This feels like it could be a real pain.

Funny, my first thought was that this would be much easier to answer by accident! Since it only requires a tap and not a swipe, it seems to me like a pocket answer or rejection would be a lot more likely to happen without the phone owner even knowing.

That’s the result including penalties. It was 1-1, then 5-6 on pens.

Having a mental block here, who is the Germany 1990 player who has died?

EDIT - found it, it’s Andreas Brehme.

To Norway: An Apology
Sorry Norway. Our jammy win in Oslo robbed you of a chance to experience a major tournament. Instead, your place went to a badly organised rabble, with no urgency, no ambition and not even basic ball control. You should have been in this tournament, and that disgraceful excuse for a Scotland team should have been languishing in 3rd or 4th. How in god's name did we beat Spain? Sorry Norway, you deserved better.

Scotland qualification scenarios
Of limited interest, I'm sure, but I spent a bit of time working all this out, and wanted to post it before Scotland go 2 down after 5 minutes tomorrow and render it all moot... So. If Scotland lose to Hungary, we're out. No ifs, buts, or maybes. If we draw then we need at least 2 out of 3 scenarios to happen in order to sneak through: - Spain beat Albania AND Italy beat Croatia - Turkey beat Czechia AND Portugal beat Georgia - Denmark beat Georgia AND England beat Slovenia by 5 or more (I think) If Scotland win against Hungary then any 2 (or more) of these scenarios gets us through - Spain avoid defeat to Albania (Scotland would finish better than Albania and also better than one of Croatia or Italy, regardless of their result) - Netherlands beat Austria (Scotland would be ahead of both Austria and Poland) - England avoid defeat to Slovenia (Scotland would be ahead of Slovenia and also at least one of Denmark or Serbia). - There's also the possibility that Slovenia hammer England (Scotland could finish better than England on goal difference and also would be ahead of at least one of Denmark or Serbia) - Portugal avoid defeat to Georgia (Scotland would be ahead of Georgia and also ahead of one of Turkey or Czechia) - Even if Georgia did win, we could beat them on GD, but we'd have to thrash Hungary, so not likely. - No draws on match day 3 in group E. Doesn't matter who wins, as long as two teams do. - Or, if there are 1 or 2 draws in group E then it comes down to goal difference, so we would have to hammer Hungary, see above. And yes, I made a spreadsheet to work all this out... :-)

Great timing. Unless they're thinking they might get a new manager bounce without actually appointing a new manager?

TLDR - Blue cards will be for dissent and cynical fouls. Two blues means red. Blue plus yellow also equals red. Weird.

As someone who was against VAR from the start, I'm pleased to see someone as high profile as Lineker come out and admit he was wrong about it and has changed his mind. Fingers crossed this continues and we can start to move towards getting rid of it.

I love football sometimes. Get it up you Bayern :-)

Liverpool v Everton
No match thread, so made this for discussion

Any way to go back to the pre-Android 14 file picker?
I really don't like the file picker now - when sharing images or anything else, it shows inconsistent and incomplete lists of folders, and although I can then choose to go to Browse and pick that way, I'd rather just have that by default. Anyone know if it's possible?

>Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct a mistake in a Chelsea v Tottenham match last season to prevent his friend Anthony Taylor receiving extra “grief”. > The former Premier League referee Dean was on VAR duty at Stamford Bridge in August 2022 when Chelsea wanted the Spurs defender Cristian Romero sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella to the floor by his hair. Dean says he made a “really bad call” in not sending Taylor to review his decision. Why would he do that? And why on earth would he admit it later??
