Hi, I’m Miss Brainfart.

I’m afraid of sharks, with the exception being blåhaj. What could that possibly mean, huh.
(That’s not a hint, I genuinely have no idea)

Lemmings can also find me @miss_brainfart:catgirl.cloud on Matrix, if they desire to do so for e2ee reasons

Honestly, I actually respect the meme. What was there first, a fridge? Now a toaster? Maybe a microwave next?

It’s so stupid that it’s kinda funny to me

Would it really be unexpected? They’ve blatantly shown how they want to milk us for every little, incremental improvement that barely qualifies as a sidegrade sometimes.

I’d like to say they can only get better than the current generation, but it is Intel we’re talking about.

Oh god, I just realized… Imagine if they brought Portal back, but in VR like they did Half-Life.

We’d get so many videos of people falling over in their living room

Whatever it is, the launcher is just bad in general. May I reccommend Heroic Games Launcher instead? You log in, get authenticated, and then it can download the games directly from the source, without ever having to run this god awful launcher.

I think it’s funny how people create accounts only to never actually spend any money on this platform

Yeah, that’s a fair point. It would be more exciting if it wasn’t procedurally generated, and that those mountaintops actually have something important to the gameplay or story explicitely placed there.

Then it would at least make a bit more sense to talk about how climbable those huge mountains are.

Every time I read about Everest, I can’t not think about how the base camp is already higher than anything that exists in the alps

Crazy

Is that really a huge claim though? A big mountain you can climb over isn’t particularly exciting in the current realm of technical possibilities.

He’s just good at making it sound cool, I guess.

Yeah, the size dictates what’s possible and what isn’t, and that’s absolutely fair.

But hey, this is just a first trailer, so we shouldn’t really make any assumptions, good or bad. Let’s just wait and see.

It’s still procedurally generated, no? I’d have loved something handcrafted, but I also understand that they want to build on what they already have.

Well, you mentioned Battlefield 1 already, but yes.

No HUD, good sound system, only standard issue rifles… Honestly an experience like no other.

I mention good sound because no HUD means you get a lot more focused on what you’re hearing, and the sound in this game is fantastic. So many great audio clues to work with.

I indeed mean MineClone2, the mod for Minetest.

I should’ve specified, there’s no shortage of Minecraft clones to be confused by.

I don’t like how much Minecraft has me by the balls. With all my hatred for Microsoft, I can’t let that game go.

On that note, install MineClone first, see if your kid likes it. Can’t hurt to try.

(Edit: MineClone2, the mod for Minetest, as seen in the reply below)

Ah, the Exynos variant. It’s not even listed as being supported at all, so good to hear that it worked anyway

Only 14.1? Now granted, there’s so many different models that it might not apply to all of them, but the european/and qualcomm jfltexx for instance runs 18.1 just fine
(well, it’s showing its age with Android 11, but still very usable)

I swear to god, half of my most recent playthrough was spent trying to find the last blueprint for the grappling arm

which is something matrix bridge based iMessage solutions like Beeper don’t do

Which is precisely what makes Matrix the better option for this, albeit still not great

Why even do this in the first place, when Matrix Bridges have been a thing for ages now?

(Note: I don’t like Matrix Bridges either, they’re problematic in their own right)

Well that was short-lived, but not unexpected

460ppi low-res? You got some proper eagle eyes, dang

Edit: Just saw your other comment, didn’t know you could bump down the resolution on a Pixel 7. But scaling down to 1080 on a 1440 display won’t look as good as native 1080, I reckon

Isn’t it funny how Nvidia wants you to use upscaling so badly for Raytracing to perform as well as they market it to, but then Raytracing itself needs more VRAM to run properly in the first place?

Nothing about their products makes any technical sense anymore, it really is just one giant middle finger at this point

The huge energy needs are… yeah

There was an article in our newspaper not long ago about the possibility of using AI to optimize the CO2 footprint of concrete.

Like, everyone was suuuper into it, and it genuinely did a good job at what they needed it to do. But actually using this at a large scale throws the benefits completely out of the window in terms of raw energy consumption to even run it.

And/or set up something like Obtainium for those apps you can pull directly from their source.

Gets you updates a lot faster, too

How different would it even be? The Intel driver has DXVK baked in, that’s how they’ve been running DirectX games in the first place

To be fair, Piped serves as a proxy, you’re not getting the content served directly from YouTubes’ servers

Could they really do anything though? Newpipe directly scrapes the content, after all

Hmmm, I never tried mods. Combat is the one major weakpoint of the game, maybe I’ll try W3EE one day

Great browser, though having proper uBlock Origin is something I just value a lot more.

And not wanting to be a part of the Chromium monopoly out of principle.

I don’t think it’s very hidden^^ Great game though, I’ve replayed it a few times to try out different things

on mobile Brave is better for privacy

Better than default Firefox, though something like Mull is on par, if not better in some areas.

Where Chromium browsers on Android still have the edge though is security. Process/tab/site isolation, stuff like that.

Oh, you can absolutely uninstall them. The files needed for installation will stay, but that’s the case with any app you remove like that.

Which is rather helpful, because it makes it easier to reinstall something in case you de-bloated a little too hard.

Ah well, good old adb shell can do a lot of de-bloating, if all else fails

Ah, I might have promised too much. They only have builds for models 5 to 9, sadly

If you ever become independant from the Play Store and other Google services, OnePlus devices seem pretty good with DivestOS

Surely can’t be good to put it in the same oven you prepare food in, can it?

Power efficiency is pretty much the main reason preventing me from doing anything of the sorts.

I mean, I’ve got a pihole running on a first-gen Pi, and even that is overkill hardware for what it needs to do

Why specifically 40+ Megapixels? I’d say the sensor in a phone is too small to really do anything significant with that many pixels.

But then again, super high-res cameras are the standard now either way, so moot point, I guess.
