Well there’s that part about the thousand’s of children they slaughtered, but other than that little details it’s really not THAT controversial.

Using my dual shock 4 controller since 2013 on PC but sure buddy

That’s fine, but then they shouldn’t go around correcting people.

Once work leaves the hands of an author, the author no longer controls the narrative, or how the narrative is interpreted.

This sentence being upvoted on Lemmy of all places is hypocritical. I don’t fully disagree with it, but people’s interpretation of art can definitely be wrong. People interpreting fallout as anti capitalist could be wrong if the author says so. This is just being upvoted because it suits Lemmy’s political views in general.

If someone interprets the Mona Lisa as an alien; that’s wrong. Or is it?

Bit more realistic; why did nobody say “the interpretation isn’t up to the author” when Trump decided to use Rage Against the Machine at his rally? Was that also not wrong because a large group of people interpreted the narrative differently than the author? Ofcourse they were wrong.

Real world weapon customization comes to mind. Other than that I don’t know, I haven’t played Halo 3.

I’d give that to Tomb Raider but both are exceptional.

I feel like Call of Duty 4 modernized and standardized the FPS genre on at least consoles. Every call of duty game still looks and feels exactly the same since CoD4 and every other first person shooter copied it’s control scheme because it was so firmly cemented.

Mechanic wise the first was Demons Souls in 2009. But your point still stands.

They did spawn a sub genre, but the stamina meter being popularized is nonsense.

I feel like GTA planted that seed waaayy before that. I remember open world games being followed by “like GTA”. Assassin’s Creed was no exception.

It was shot and produced no? That’s literally what this thread is about.

They found that out decades ago. Hell there was even an Halloween game on the Atari 2600 lol

Call of duty was never super slow paced. You must be confused with Operation Flashpoint or the likes.

From Software’s games and their toxic fanbase completely changed what a difficult game is. Their games aren’t difficult, they’re just punishing. And yes there’s a huge difference.

Some of us would rather not play it then. It’s not hard.

In the meantime TES fans are literally dying of old age

Did I do that?

I’m transphobic because I don’t partake in perpetual mob outrage?

It’s because star wars cannot exist without rehashing the same old member berries. It always boils down to empire/Jedi/force.

It was never intended as more than a setting for a fun space adventure. Now that Disney opened the floodgates on Star Wars shit that became painfully obvious again.

Silent Hill 2 is one of the best games ever made. You can’t live up to that, and this game won’t. When they recreated that shot where James looks in the mirror in the very first trailer and gave him a big frowny face, that’s all I needed to know. They’re not going to capture what made the first game a masterpiece.
