It’s not a subtle ad. Google has sold the top slots of your search to companies in exchange for money.

When your search for “Excel”, Google doesn’t try to find you the most relevant result. They find you the highest paying ad, and then what you’re searching for.

Also wait for sales.

$404 divided over 10 years is different than as a lump. But getting the whole bundle for 80% off because it’s been successfully developed for 10 years is value.

Yeah people don’t seem to be understanding that this is a technical and pragmatic issue, not a business decision.

It’s the “new and improved” problem. If it’s new, it’s not improved. And if it’s improved, it’s not new.

If you want a new, cutting edge game, you aren’t just improving the old game. So the old stuff likely won’t be compatible.

If you want an improvement/extension of the old game, you won’t be getting a shiny new game.

They made the choice to make a shiny new game but they need to try to prevent the inevitable backlash from people being upset that they’re favorite X/Y/Z is missing.

More importantly people don’t want to buy into closed game environments. They promise of ongoing development attracts players that want that type of scale, and also allows devs to continue to eat. It’s a win/win.

This is the right choice by devs. I haven’t played it and honestly I probably never will, but I respect the decision.

This was always the plan, by the way. This is the Trump school of negotiation.

Make a horrendous, unrealistic, offensive proposition. Opponent is outraged.

Then, propose the offer you actually want. It now looks better relative to the initial proposition.

I fucking despise this type of action and will never touch unity or suggest it to anyone ever again. It’s the only way to root out this type of bullshit from our society. Scorched earth.

This is more like if it was successfully sold at auction, and THEN banksy destroyed it after taking the money.

That’s madness.

Imagine the player outcry being too just uninstall and reinstall games over she over to punish the devs.

I feel the same way about the OLED screen.

The are too many static elements on a phone screen. Notification bar, keyboard, etc. I just expect burnin to be a huge problem within a couple years.

Ironically I’m less concerned with battle passes as long as they don’t sell power. The actual mtx itself doesn’t bother me, I’ve easily spent hundreds in path of exile. But I prefer to enjoy the game first, and then at some point decide that I want to support the devs, and then maybe I buy something.

The shop had an un-clearable red alert notification any time they released a new skin for your character chat.

The only way to clear it was to open the shop and scroll to find the new item and click on it, opening the store page. Then when you backed out it would go away.

You had to do this for every single item that was released.

Maybe I’m neurotic or autistic or OCD or all three but those stupid red alerts trigger me and I need to clear them all to keep playing the game.

I don’t even want the fucking store in my game. Give me an option to turn it off for fuck’s sake.

…but I paid full price for D4 and still got a half baked game with an invasive in-game shop.
