I agree, I don’t think there’s anything Sony can do about the cost. Manufacturing costs aren’t going down over time like they used to in the past. That’s why there haven’t been any price cuts this gen.

I think the PS5 Pro was just a doomed concept to begin with. There’s nothing they could do to make games look noticeably better without making the console outrageously expensive or requiring devs to do an unreasonable amount of work to support it.

As someone who actually bought this game, I can confirm that it’s not good. The main issue is that there’s not nearly enough content to be worth the $40 price tag. It just has a few PvP game modes and that’s it. It’s basically like paying $40 just to play the PvP portion of Destiny, except worse because you don’t get to build your own character.

It’s impossible to predict which new multiplayer games will be successful and which ones won’t. It’s so risky for developers to even try making them nowadays. Even games that seem successful at first (like The Finals and XDefiant) struggle to maintain much interest over time.

Anyways, I like Overwatch but I’ve gotten bored with it over the past few years, so I’m potentially interested in Concord. I’ll keep an eye on it. (I was aware that there was a beta, but I thought it was pre-order only so I didn’t check it out)

I just don’t like that Multiversus matches you against bots disguised as human players. Instant deal breaker for me.

Valve’s game development division feels more like a weird cult than a proper game company. I don’t think they get “excited” for the things that most people get excited for. (Remember when they were excited for a virtual card game where you have to pay for every card?) The Valve of the 2000s is long gone IMO

I’m not angry, but I’m tired of live service esports games. Also the last time Valve arrived late to a trend (Artifact) it didn’t turn out well.

I don’t think Hellblade 2 is the kind of game that’s going to make a ton of money, at least not as much as major franchises on Playstation. It wouldn’t make sense to spend too much budget on marketing.

They need to bring back the thing where you move the control stick left and right during drift to build up boost

I just learned an interesting piece of gaming history that most people might not know about. (Xbox Live Arcade on original Xbox)
I just learned that Xbox Live Arcade was a service that first started on the original Xbox, not Xbox 360. You had to order a disc online that would let you access the XBLA store. Here's the wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live_Arcade I've never heard anyone talk about this before, so I think this is really interesting. A lot of the OG XBLA games don't even have wikipedia pages, so I'm guessing this service was pretty obscure when it came out? Anyways I found some Youtube videos of some of the games, so here's some gameplay clips if anyone is interested: Hamsterball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUA-SeFye_0 ThinkTanks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSJ0t8cIQYc Mutant Storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PpS1giWPGw Did any of you guys ever use Xbox Live Arcade on the original Xbox? What did you think of it? I'm curious to hear more about it.

Been playing FF7 Rebirth (35 hours in) and really not enjoying it. Does anyone else feel this way?
No spoilers I loved FF7 Remake, but Rebirth is really not doing it for me. My main issue with it is the story. It feels totally aimless. Almost nothing meaningful has happened in the entire 35 hours I've played. Also, I find most of the characters to be very annoying. The dialogue and cinematography are awkward. (Why are there so many uncomfortable close-ups of characters faces? Why do the female characters keep giggling for no reason? Tifa and Aerith don't seem to know each other very well but they sure like to giggle to each other.) I do love the combat system though. And the open world stuff is often enjoyable. But it doesn't make up for how the story feels like such a slog. Does anyone else feel this way? I was expecting to love this game after loving Remake so much, but honestly at this point I'm just forcing myself to finish the game so I can make sure I'm caught up for part 3.

I got a Jelly 2 a couple years ago to reduce my smartphone addiction, and I loved it. It runs well and the build quality is great. (I ended up switching back to my normal phone, but that’s not the Jelly 2’s fault. I’m just weak)

I assume you’re talking specifically about upcoming games that haven’t been released yet? Yeah I can’t really think of anything coming up that I’m excited about. Currently the only games I’m looking forward to are Metroid Prime 4 (if it ever comes out) and the indie game Dreamsettler (the sequel to Hypnospace Outlaw)

Looking for recommendations for a specific type of gaming YouTube channel
Hi, I'm trying to find YouTube channels that make videos like this: https://youtu.be/bCQMHjDAJZU?si=jeFNvxTGK95o0YWQ Basically I want channels that cover new/upcoming games, talking about them in a casual and unscripted way. I like these videos because they're a great way to stay informed on current games. Giant Bomb used to be known for making videos like this, but unfortunately they stopped making them. Game Informer's "New Gameplay Today" videos are basically the same thing, but I'd like to find a channel that makes videos like this a bit more frequently. Do you guys know of any channels like this? Thanks

I’m pretty sure panel 2 and panel 4 should have the same text

This is weird. I wonder if this type of crowdfunding will catch on.

I’m interested in Stormgate and I want it to succeed, but being able to invest in it like this kinda gives it scammy vibes.

I’m super stoked for Rebirth so I’m definitely not playing this. I want to go in as blind as possible on the 29th.

This might mean it’s true that the upcoming Xbox Series X refresh won’t have a hard drive. Microsoft wouldn’t want Xbox games to be on store shelves when they’re no longer selling consoles that can play them.

I’m having fun with it on Game Pass but I don’t think I would describe it as a good game. It’s formulaic and low quality. It’s just a normal survival game IMO, although the aspect of collecting Pokémon is enough to keep the game engaging since it makes you want to collect them all.

I think products like this are inevitable, although I’m surprised that MSI is trying to be at the forefront of it. It’s weird that a company that sells esports equipment is also going to sell equipment for cheating.

Technically not true because Redfall is cross-platform with Xbox. Also it doesn’t have matchmaking anyway

It’s readable on my screen but just barely. But you can see the full size via Right click > Open image in new tab

I can’t give you any idea how well it works in practice, because Framework broke the fans on its only GPU module in the United States, Patel admitted to me.

I wonder if they’re lying about this. Maybe the fans are super loud or something and they didn’t want the reporter to know.

Is this expected to be a niche technology, or is it something that regular people will use? Seems like it would be a hassle to make sure that your li-fi receivers are within line of sight of your li-fi transmitters or whatever.

It’s a little annoying how this article is written as a shitty “look who’s getting dunked on on Twitter today” article, even though it’s actually about a serious issue. I don’t care about Twitter drama, I care about the fact that people are losing their jobs to AI.

I don’t get it, what’s the benefit of this? Why would your average joe want to use a cloud instance instead of running Windows locally? How does Microsoft benefit from this?

Why does Microsoft want this? What’s the benefit of encouraging people to use VMs instead of running Windows locally?

Why doesn’t the plastic screen protector cover the entire screen? It seems so unnecessary to leave a gap.

Overwatch has plenty of viable competitive heroes that don’t require quick reflexes
