If it isn’t on a massively overhauled engine to bring it up to par to current AAA quality, Ill be skipping this
I think the engine would matter a bit less for TES/FO if they’re following the same map design. Starfield was just way too ambitious and poorly designed for the engine they had. Potato physics and object permanence is good but seamless streaming and no loading screens is much better for a space exploration game. For TES/FO, all that object permanence leads to good environmental story telling and useful loot around dungeons if done well, but at this point Todd knows how they are gonna screw it up this time.
I was gonna make a joke that it might bring it up to par to 2024 AAA quality when it releases in 2029, but I’m not sure, I see that happening either…
Considering Starfield was barely 2013 AAA quality, I have a feeling people are going to be disappointed.
To be fair, none of Bethesda’s games really push technical boundaries. They tend to look pretty good, but the value is in depth and breadth of content, not pushing the limits of rendering. Skyrim wasn’t cool because of high tech features, but because the world was immersive.
So that’s what I’m looking for. I don’t care if it’s using old tech, as long as it looks good and there’s a ton of great content. Give me improved Skyrim gameplay feel with Morrowind depth of content and story. I’d be interested in story-heavy DLC if the base game is good enough, kind of like the other games provided with mods.
That would be nice.
It won’t, because everything since Morrowind has gotten more shallow with each iteration. As good as Skyrim was, it was even shallower than Oblivion, which was shallower than Morrowind.
The fact they keep saying “empty isn’t boring” and other things defending Starfield tells me they haven’t learned jack shit.
Too bad Starfield wasn’t that, either, and Fallout 4 as well as 76 before it. Elder Scrolls 6 is gonna be a shitshow unless something drastic changes for the better at Bethesda. I don’t see that happening, though, since they’ve been busy since their last release trying to convince everyone that didn’t like Starfield that they’ve just been playing the game wrong.
Yup, I’m not bullish about it either. But who knows, maybe they learned something from the backlash…
Going to be a buggy mess after they panic develop Gamebyro to handle post star field expectations
Don’t worry. Exe modders will save us.
Or after bg3 they realise Morrowind quest design was their peak and delay it another 5 years to work it in.
Tl;dw
Location: we don’t know.
Combat: we don’t know.
Release date: we don’t know.
But with a clunky ai voice that seems to struggle flowing 6 into a sentence.
Thank you for doing the work here. Your efforts summarizing the video is appreciated
So: nothing. Got it.
Too many articles & videos use shitty AI to not say anything just to get the clicks.
Yes, that is why I clicked the link so you don’t have to mate.
Really appreciate that too.
