Peak Online: 37,185,128
Date: 2026-05-19
A new record has been reached. And I feel like Saubnatica 2 and Forza Horizon 6 are partially responsible for this new peak. I don’t see anyone talking or posting about this new logged in users of Steam.
EDIT: Today it just got a new record again! A few hours after I posted this post, lol. To me stats and numbers are interesting. New numbers:

Help and suggestions
Interesting, thanks for posting! Monday is a holiday in the US and Paralives (a highly anticipated life sim) comes out then. I wonder if it’ll have any impact. In my gaming bubble it seems like everyone is going to get it and play all day on launch, but in reality I don’t know how interest stacks up against Sub or Forza.
Monday is national holiday in Germany too. Together with the weekend, I am curious if we see new peaks. About the Paralives game, to be honest I didn’t heard of it before. Maybe because that’s not the kind of game I’m looking into and therefore didn’t appear on my radar. It has 179,445 followers according to Steamdb (a third party site tracking Steam data). I think it would have been better if the game came out right at the start of the weekend. We’ll see how it performs. Looks quite nice.
Oh! Happy early Pfingsten!
Yea, I’m expecting actual sales patterns to differ a bit for this one because it’s a cozy game. A lot of cozy gamers might not use steam regularly enough to warrant wishlisting a game. On the other hand, it’s releasing in early access and I’m not sure if enough cozy gamers want to play this as an early access game. InZOI was another early access life sim that was less anticipated than Paralives and it sold about as well as Forza 6 (on PC) though it’s not as widely played. I think they are releasing on Monday because it’s going to be pretty buggy and don’t want people playing all weekend and running into a bunch of bugs. That plus they can address bug reports as they come up during the week instead of doing it over the weekend. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on how it sells and player stats though.
Paralives looks so good, but I don’t usually jump into early access. I hope the team earns enough to keep development up to 1.0, and hope that doesn’t take a decade lol.
Some of my favorite games were early access and I’ve played them the entire time really reveling in new features as they come out. Unfortunately, I think Paralives is going to be too buggy on launch even for me. I’m used to buggy life sims in general and I’ve done alpha testing of games, but from what I’ve seen I might wait for a bit. On the plus side, the dev team seems really dedicated. I’m sure they’ll keep working on it, it might just be years before I personally decide to jump in. I also don’t think a price has been announced. If it’s ~$20 I might go for it regardless because I’m sure I’ll get $20 of enjoyment out of it even with the bugs. I think $40 is likely and it’s not a bad price, but I’ll definitely wait for a few more months of fixes at that price point.
I’d admit, CA$20 would be appealing but I suspect it will be higher.
I’ve been recently watching those graphs too, and it’s mind blowing how huge those numbers are.
I haven’t really done the math, but it seems like peak times are later day in Asian countries, so I do wonder if it’s the same releases that are driving the big numbers, ie Forza and Subnautica
What’s crazy is the numbers are basically double the pre-Covid numbers. Meaning half the players on Steam today weren’t there before 2020.
Also the peak record 3 days ago and today are reached at the same time on the clock, which is Germany local time 16:00, and a few hours around it in Europe in general. That is 10 AM in the US I think (we live 6 hours in the future). That means the numbers might even go up further at later day; just checking again https://store.steampowered.com/charts/ … oh yes, it is! Even my new Edit is outdated, lol. Can’t keep up.

This user was arguing, off-topic, gaslighting, and trying to start slap fights. Couple that with over 7 reports made by them against anybody who disagreed, I gave them a 3-day timeout.
With that logic all other stores should break new records too, not just Steam. Just because the entire population of humanity grows, does not mean that everything in the world grows too. Especially with the current economy in the world.

Then don’t talk about it and let people talk if they wish.
No, because I do not care about that.
As said, other stores are free to install and yet they do not grow like Steam. Also people die every day and you assume that no one leaves or stops using Steam.
I will post and talk about new peaks and its interesting what discussions this brings up sometimes. Even this our very discussion how useful or useless it is is interesting to me. No one forces you to talk about subject you don’t care.

You just took my quote out of context. I said I do not care bout the school or day population you said earlier. Here the full quote in context:
What do you mean by:
??? What did I answer? I’m surprised no one brought this new peak of concurrent users up. Usually people are quick to bring it up. That happened in the past often.
You don’t care. I do. Some people care, some don’t. If you don’t care, why do you even reply and discuss here? If you don’t care, just move on. I like talking about new high peak numbers. Block me.

You do not provide any alternative or useful perspective. You just say its not worth talking about this, because you do not care. Which in fact means I should stop talking. And yet, you still talk about it. Looks like this post was more useful than you initially admit it.
The power of monopoly
It’s less the power of monopoly and more the power of the only decent platform.
Steam is great and I love what they’re bringing.
Still I’m trying to buy 50% of my games on GOG because no monopoly is good and Steam still has DRM’s and no real transparency about it.
After killing the competition with exclusivity deals and shoehorning itself into physical copies as DRM.
I know you weren’t born when that happened, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Steam / Valve doesn’t do exclusivity deals.
Except they kinda did.
They pay publishers to use Steam as DRM for physical releases.
If you wanted to play the game on PC, you needed Steam.
Publishers used Steam for physical releases because Valve takes no fee for CD keys, so it was cheaper for them.
Got a source on them paying publishers for that?
First, this is not what you said earlier, its a different statement. Also… where do you get that Valve pays publishers to use Steam as DRM? And therefore forces them a kind of exclusivity deal? No, Valve does not do that.
The power of open platform
Steam used exclusivity deals and anyone selling a game on Steam can’t turn round and sell it at a lower price elsewhere.
Steam didn’t do exclusivity deals.
