Not suprising. Paying to have your weapon included in a modern military shooter is pretty tame compared to a lot of product placement.

No crime was committed here, this was simply a business decision. Why is this being reported as if this was a huge revelation?

Because gun manufacturers are evil, shitty companies that stoke the divisive gun debate in the US because it gives them free publicity. And because we want to believe that our entertainment products are made by companies that agree with us about that subject and will refuse to do business with gun companies.

Obviously this is a highly naïve worldview, but hopefully that explains why it is newsworthy.
