Today’s game is Old School Runescape. I was in the mood to hop on and mess around in the game, so i booted it up and did the Cake Quest (finally). It took me a while to find the bucket for the milk, but i eventually did it. While i was looking for the Dairy cows i found these goblins watching the Cows. I don’t know if they’re busted or Runescape’s goblins are friendly, but they don’t seem to attack me. I sat back and watched for a while until a player came by and slaughtered the cows and i went back to looking for the dairy cows.
Finding the bucket was difficult, and i spent a good 10 minutes looking. But eventually i found one in the basement of the Castle. I also made sure to grab a jug i needed for the flour nearby so i could future proof.
While searching for the mill i found another goblin, this one just watching the ducks. He seemed like a chill guy and i watched the ducks with him for a bit.
Finally though, i returned to the castle and turned in everything for the cake. It took me nearly 2 years to finally get around to this quest (the fact that i usually only hop on to dick around doesn’t help either) but i finally did it. I even got a shiny little achievement for it. I was going to also look into buying a house tonight but it turns out the Houses are reserved for members only and i’m not really down for paying for a subscription for this game (or really any game).
Instead i left my player to squat in this random house with a cat i found until i finally log back on to mess around again half a year later. If he’s anything like me he’d appreciate the cat.

I also recently started playing osrs again. I highly recommend using the Runelite client! It has a lot of extra plugins that will both make the game look better, run better and help you with quests. You can choose how much help you want too. That plugin is called QuestHelper. Runelite is also acknowledged and accepted by Jagex so no worries on that front, the majority of osrs players use Runelite.
I began playing Runescape in 2007. I watched it go through so many changes over the years. The original game is now almost completely unrecognisable from the way it used to be!
I dipped in and out of OSRS for a few years as well. I no longer play it, but I logged into my account a few days ago. Here’s the stats I had before I quit
I have to say I really loved RuneScape quests. Some of the quests are incredibly humorous and really clever.
The quest about neighbourhood wizard robbing a bank and the accompanying “security cam footage” of him “pwning noob players” during robbery but denying everything has stuck with me as a core memory.
I love how casual it is. A lot of MMOs I feel like are very heavy fantasy, but RuneScape just goes wild which I love
That is so true! And there (atleast when I played) wasn’t much group content so you never had to stress about that either (unlike in other mmos)
The minimal group content is very much appreciated lol. I know it kind of goes against the point but i don’t like really doing group stuff
Same, mostly because it’s not relaxing anymore and you need to manage time as well. I can’t always commit so much time unfortunately and we all know how toxic some MMO players can be! (not always but yeah)
I’ve been self hosting a 2009scape server recently so it has been fun to replay it.
It doesn’t have all the content from osrs but is lets me play members without have to pay or deal with online dickheads.
I’ve thought about looking into my own server but with how off and on again with RuneScape I just stay f2p
What dickheads are there in osrs? Unless you seek it out yourself? Everyone is just going about their business.
ah, Runescape. The version I played aaaages ago is apparently now called “Classic”. The only thing I (barely) remember from those times are my massive piles of Kebab -items in my inventory, they were dirt cheap as healing items, but they did have a chance of dealing damage when eaten, instead of healing. :D
The goblins being peaceful might be due to your combat level. Once you outlevel an enemy by a certain amount, they stop auto-attacking you and you have to initiate combat with them if you want to.
Ooh. It’s possible. I think I’m around Level 39 so that might be it
What a great game! Such a unique and engaging way to do questing in video games. Finishing the quests without a guide is such an incredibly rewarding experience! Some are pretty hard to figure out, but it’s soooooo good.
