MIUI is sort of a homebrew OS broadly based on Android. Some things work, others don’t. I wouldn’t be surprised if Xiaomi and OPPO will eventually go the way of Huaweii and develop their own custom OS to lock users into their ecosystem. It’s a China thing.
And while I’m a big fan of Xiaomi products in general, I wouldn’t use any of their phones without flashing the EU ROM first to ensure compatibility with free market tech. If you’re willing to give that a try, the folks at xiaomi.eu are working hard to maintain compatibility.

Huaweii’s HarmonyOS is also based on Android, just like other manufacturer’s Android reskins.
They might’ve hard forked AOSP without incorporating newer changes and over time farther deviate from upstream AOSP, but at least three years ago they basically just replaced all mentions of Android with Harmony.

That really was a long time ago in Chinese tech terms. I happen to live there, and it’s astonishing how fast stuff evolves.
Which Apps are talking about?
did you try installing with Aurora?
not a reply to “why” but a solution maybe
Because MIUI deviates from stock Android so much that it often causes unexpected behaviour and bugs. So it’s easier for developers to just say they don’t support it, instead of putting up with negative reviews and complaints.
Yeah, this would be the main. There was a time when VLC had blacklisted huawei phones from installing their app on the Playstore when they had enough with the negative reviews.
Are you sure the problem is miui and not android 13 ?
I think its more Android 13 problem, I use Android 13 custom ROM and in Google Play it shows my device isn’t compatible with this version error in some of the apps
