From what I have seen the gamepass DRM often goes haywire with new games on PC. Can’t imagine it being easy to integrate into nearly 20 year old games.

Thank god people don’t fall for this trap. Its so clear that once they have lured in enough fools, they gonna start raising prices.

This is what AMD should have delivered in the RX 6000 and 7000 Lineup. A card thats a hair better than Nvidia in Raster at the same price but which lacks Nvidia’s feature stack isn’t cutting it.

You have been able to do this on Android for a while using Termux, Proot Distro and VSCode Server. I even did it once to host two Angular Frontends on Android to free up Memory form my main latop running the backend.

Prince of Persia is such a IP almost no one cares about and most people know that it has something to do with AC in some way.

Multiplayer was peak CoD. The maps especially were almost all bangers.

they are a reverse midas. Anything they touch doesn’t turn into gold but into shit

Now would be a great time to make a new simcity since city skylines 2 got greedy and bombed

Its not. I’m writing this on a Note 8 with Android 9. It can run 99% of Apps on the Playstore, has an up to date browser and even gets access to new features like Google Lens, Gemini or Quickshare. Would it be nice to have Android 14? Yes. Does it need Android 14? eh not really.

They have gone about this in a really stupid way. Instead of doing this exclusivity shit, they could have made games 10% cheaper for the enduser across the board.

Also their launcher sucks

I hope it sells it well. Maybe its just me but I don’t see a big overlap between Platformer Fans and PS5 owners.

I think there are two core issues. Their creation engine has struggled to keep pace since the PS4 era and Todd’s ego.

The engine part can be fixed by either licensing something else or investing big time to bring that fossil up to speed.

With Todd’s ego, I hope Starfield thought him a lesson or they make someone else top dog.

Marketing and availablity. Unless you watch Phonereviews you probably have no idea these phones exist.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. If I understand it correctly, there is no way to really prevent these Apps from “running” in the background, although “running” just means they sit idle in memory 99.9% of time and don’t do anything unless a broadcast event they are subscribed to gets fired and then they are permitted to do small task.

So I guess the most likely issue is that either something else on the phone is causing this drain or that some App constantly gets restarted (which is expensive) for some reason instead of just staying idle in memory.

thanks, I will give the work profile route a try since I’m not aware of any ways to root my phone (LG G8X)

I have done that but there are certain Services like my Bank or Phone provide that require me to installiert their App. Also with others - Kleinanzeigen, the mobile website is horrible and thus kinda force me to use the App.

in the case of the Microsoft copilot app, yes obviously, but there are some Apps which I need like for my bank.

This stuff drives me so mad. I recently have noticed higher than usual over-night drain on my phone and decided to investigate a bit. So I connected my phone to my machine, closed out all the apps waited a few seconds and ran adb shell top with a few parameters to see what is actually running. And would you look at that, despite the phone telling me that nothing is running at all, the microsoft copilot, ebay kleinanzeigen (a german craigslist), google photos and google search either have not been closed or somehow started themselves. Also I have not received any notifications for these Apps in the last few seconds. First of all, how are these Apps even doing it? With the two Google Apps I kinda get it, since they are System Apps, but in the case of ebay Kleinanzeigen and microsoft copilot it makes 0 sense since they are regular 3rd party Apps. How can they bypass seemingly all optimizations and start themselves (I haven't used the Microsoft copilot app in months). Also is there any way to prevent this from happening or at the very least get some kind of summary how often these Apps ran in the background. Sadly the Android battery information page is totally useless. With many of these Apps I don't care about notifications or anything and I never want them to run after I close them in the task manager.

Imagine if both epic and the devs made an agreement to make all games 10% cheaper and share the costs.

these days unless you have a very popular Samsung, Oneplus or a Pixel you usually don’t have much choice.

The Microsoft overlords really letting themselfes go these days.

they are kind of the mob boss of anything cellular who collects protection money from anyone who wants to do buisness.

Curious to see how good it works with Betheda games once they are supported. Vortex at least to me seemed overcomplicated and I still don’t grasp a lot of things about it. I liked the old OG Nexus Mod Manager best.

This is one of the best things about PC gaming. I already have played two other “revived” games from my childhood extensivley in the past - NFS World and Battlefield Heroes.

So its easier now to unlock these rare prize cars now? That might pull me back in.

Black Ops 2 had a pretty simple solution. A playlist where half the players on each team are pretty weak bots. I played this mode more than the regular 6v6 MP because it didn’t force everyone to use the same 4 meta guns to do well.

Can anyone recommend me a setup to virtualize Linux under Windows that runs smoothly?
I by now have wasted far too much time trying to setup a VM on my decently decked out machine (i5 13600KF, RTX 3080, 32GB DDR5, Win11 on a 4K Display) to run some kind of Linux in there that runs perfectly smooth - mostly for Development purposes. So far I have tried all 3 major vm hosting softwares for windows (VMWare, Hyper V and Virtual Box) along side various (admittedly beginner friendly) distros (Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, Mint, ...) yet I have not once gotten a System up and running with smooth animations and no notable input latency. Also I have of course turned on Hardware virtualization in my bios and benchmarks usually show that CPU performance seems to be where I expect it. So I wanna ask the community what setup they are using under windows that just runs any kind of Linux smoothly and what point I may be missing. Also installing Linux natively is not really an option for me since I want to be able to run Multiplayer games and I still consider myself a Linux beginner and don't wanna commit to install Linux directly on my host machine yet.

[PSA] Oneplus phones on Android 11 are being artificially throttled but there is a fix.
Hi there, I wanna share this knowledge with about Oneplus phones on Android 11 since I don't think its well known how you to fix it. Basically as a "battery saving meassure" Oneplus is secretly without telling the user limiting performance of a wide range of Apps, like Social Media Apps, Browsers, etc. The performance in some cases can be down by a whooping 75% - which can be quite noticable. Unfortunately there is no easy method to turn this behavior off in the Settings App or whatever. But what you have to do is : - enter `adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.oneplus.config` - reboot the phone If you want a further explanation and me demonstrating the issue and how its fixed - check out this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqYL6ySTIIQ&t=9s From my experience I noticed no other issues on my phone and the change had no real impact on my day to day battery life .
