SteamOS is Valve’s Linux-based operating system. It features a seamless user experience optimized for gaming, while retaining access to the power and flexibility of a PC, and plays tens of thousands of games on Steam. SteamOS officially ships on Steam Deck, and will soon ship with certain Legion Go S models. We’re currently working on adding support for more devices.
Yeah, I had GamePass before I switched to Linux. It sucks that they’ve chosen to not support Linux, but it’s their choice. I’m not going to let them hold me hostage on their shitty OS for it. I’d likely happily pay for it again if they decide to release a Linux version, but until then they can fuck off. I don’t need their service.

This makes it easier for third-party devices to come with it stock installed or for people like you and me to set it up for friends. The kind of people who want handheld PCs are already going to skew more tech savvy, so I would not downplay how significant this release is.
