It’s not that Take Two bought the game, they bought the publisher of the game. The devs wanted to submit an update, which they normally would do by sending it to their publisher. But now their publisher no longer exists, so they send they want to send their update to Take Two, but apparently some red tape is in the way.

Yeah the devs sold it right? Like that’s how business works? Ain’t yours anymore bud.
Except that’s not what happened
What happened then??
If only there was a way to know!
Wow what a useful fucking comment
That’s what I thought about yours yes
I’m talking to someone who knows the answer, you needlessly added yourself to the conversation. Added nothing.
The publisher got bought.
Well, that’s kind of something you sign up for when you get a publisher. It’s fucked up, like what record labels do, but not surprising.

Why does gaming even need publishers? Unlike books or movies the number of sales outlets seems rather small, usually in the single digits.
