TL;DR - We are not changing our game's business model, it will remain buy-to-play and not f2p or GaaS. Recently, an article was published in which we discussed the possible future direction of Palworld and ideas for continuing the game for a long time. In fact, this interview was conducted several months ago. At that time, we were still considering the best way forward for Palworld to create a long-lasting game that continues to grow.
While it’s great they’re not going to somehow make it a subscription based game, I’m confused by something else now:
We are still considering skins and DLC for Palworld in future as a means to support development
Didn’t this small team just make tens of millions of dollars in sales? An amount the CEO said was “too big for a studio with our size to handle.” Why do they need more money to continue development?
They rapidly expanded their team to quickly fix issues present with the early access release version of the game. They’re still working towards 1.0, so the talks of DLC expansions will likely be for content after release. Development of new content takes a lot of time, so it’s smart to plan for the future before it becomes a problem.

Mr. Krabs, why are you making a second Krusty Krab?
If No Man’s Sky is any indication, they don’t really need more money, they just want it
No man’s sky is not really the fitting example you think it anymore. Over time the devs put in some work.
That’s what I’m saying. They made bank on release and have been putting out content without any dlc or microtransactions
No man’s Sky still has a heart of jank, but it undeniably has a heart
