How do you know all of this?
I just want a reasonably priced generational bump over the Index. Most PCVR headsets that have pancake lenses are either obscenely priced, are ridiculously heavy, or have reportedly terrible QA. From what I’ve seen lately, usually all three are true.
You can get close in features and price with something like a Pico or a Quest, but they lack direct DisplayPort connection, so it’s compressed wireless PCVR, compressed “wired” PCVR (which basically uses a networking protocol anyway), or no PCVR at all.
Myself, and I’m sure a ton of other people, are hoping for the Deckard to be “huge” for the PCVR market, just like the Index was when it released. Maybe we’re all coping, and we probably even are, but I think a lot of people are generally unhappy with the state of the PCVR hardware market right now.
So all this is to say… I really hope this thing is much better than a glorified flat screen projector.
Fun fact: they spent quite a while working on a segmented 3D animation system for all the sprites. Every sprite is split up into segments, and then those segments are positioned in 3D space depending on the camera angle. They can even independently move each part of a character, like a leg, without having to create an entirely new sprite just for one frame.
This is 3 years old at this point, but this should give a good idea of how the new animation system works!
They have to restrict themselves to pickpocketing roaming NPC fascists.
What? Fascists? RuneScape doesn’t have…
Oh. HAM, I almost forgot about those guys.
Be aware, it’s not free as in costs $0, it’s free as a “Giveaway,” where you must accept these terms:
By clicking the ‘Add to library’ button, I agree to receive marketing communications from GOG and CD PROJEKT on my email address and through GOG services and GOG’s Trusted Partners’ services, to get Shadows: Awakening. See our Privacy policy.
I don’t think I’ve been banned, but I did a similar thing. I requested all my data from Reddit, then used that list of comment/post IDs to mass-edit them. I think I’m in the clear because I used the official third party API, with an official “app.” If you used the private API or instrumented this via the browser, that may be why you were banned.
Anyway, if you or someone else wants their full history, Reddit will give it to you via a data export request.
That’s true, they do have a Linux search filter on GOG.com.
Which is why it’s even weirder to me that they still don’t make GoG Galaxy available on Linux. It stinks, even for Windows games on Wine/Proton, because you can’t access cloud saves or online services without GoG Galaxy running.
I’ve managed to make it work with a hacky script to launch Galaxy under Wine, but it’s fragile, crashes sometimes, and I really just want something better.
I really hope you’ve taken a breather inbetween your internet raging to realize the “violent” aspects of this game are completely optional. It’s tastefully done, and absolutely no different than killing Minecraft cows for food. Are you a vegetarian when you play Minecraft?
If the game wasn’t also low effort slop that’s borderline an asset flip with how many designs they’ve stolen, I’d probably tolerate it more but I’m awestruck so many people are eating this trash up and celebrating it.
If you’re going to parrot stuff you heard off Twitter, the least you can do is verify it for yourself first. The designs aren’t stolen. Did they steal 3D models? No. Are they shamelessly similar? Yes. But that’s allowed, and it’s been a staple of the gaming industry for 30 years. We literally call other genres of shamelessly similar games by the games they copy. Soulslikes. Roguelikes. Metroidvanias.
You clearly haven’t tried this game. It’s not “slop,” it’s high effort, there is a ton of attention to detail, and the success it has gotten is absolutely earned. I’ve never seen an indie game get so much right.
It beat Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam. It has more players than the 2023 Game of the Year.
Steam is filled with trash low effort games, yes. But are you really so full of yourself that you think Palworld would sell this well if it were just another shovelware title? If it were “slop?” Grow up, please.
And let’s not forget the franchise you’re defending. THIS is slop:
Try CrossCode! It’s action based so it won’t feel too RPG-y.
The story is really good and the characters are extremely well written. At the risk of sounding cliche, they’re so well written they feel like real people.
The dungeons have puzzles which you may enjoy since you like Zelda games.
The combat is really fast and skill based, and you respawn immediately at the last door you walked through, so you might find this gameplay loop rewarding since you like Souls games.
You don’t have to grind, but if you do try this game, try beating a bunch of enemies until the S rank bar appears. Something fun will happen :)
By blocking unauthorized emulations on PC, studios are able to increase their revenue during the game launch window, which is the most important period for monetization.
Uh huh, yeah, this will definitely just create money out of thin air from people who couldn’t afford it in the first place.
The Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection will ensure that anyone wishing to play the game has to buy a legitimate copy.
To say nothing of Switches running custom firmware. There is absolutely no way for a game to detect this, so it will still be easy to pirate with those. Games will still leak early. Nothing will change.
This is a grift. Studios will probably spend more to license this “technology” than they stand to “save” by preventing emulation. They are taking advantage of clueless game studio execs and they know it.
I’ve been using Lawnchair for a while, but development is so slow, and they are so consistently behind Android updates, that I think I’ve given up on custom launchers and will just use the stock AOSP launcher.
It is disappointing, but Google has made it so you don’t get the fancy recents carousel unless you use the stock launcher. Lawnchair does support that by pretending to be the stock launcher, but Lawnchair only supports up to Android 12, and Android 14 is about to come out. There hasn’t been a hint of Lawnchair even starting development of Android 13 compatibility, so I’m not confident they’ll be able to keep up with 14 and beyond.
I love seeing all the CrossCode recommendations, and on Lemmy of all places. Here I thought no one knew about it!
Easily my favorite game of all time. I don’t think it ever drops the ball, the combat is awesome, the story is incredible, and the characters are so well written that you’ll think they’re actually real people.
The biggest criticism is the game’s puzzles, but they aren’t really as bad as some (very impatient) people make them out to be, and there are options to decrease the difficulty of the puzzles.
(Replying to kbin users is broken right now, so I’ll try this)
I haven’t been able to find a game anything like CrossCode. Most games with a pixel art style are turn-based RPGs, and while I also love those, they aren’t really comparable to CrossCode’s real time action combat. I also haven’t seen a recent game with writing and humor as good as CrossCode’s. I might have to find some SNES/PSX era games to try out, although I’ve played the major ones.
The CrossCode devs are making a new game though, codenamed “Project Terra.” It’s a few years out, but the gameplay style is essentially a refined version of CrossCode’s. You can check out gameplay footage on their dev blog:
I don’t see anyone talking about CrossCode, but it’s such an amazing game. And it’s on sale right now!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/368340/CrossCode/
Profound story, excellent sound design, amazing soundtrack, insanely well designed combat system. It’s just an incredible game. It has more content, depth, and attention to detail than most AAA games these days.
If you’re picking it up, get the DLC as well! It’s not just DLC, it’s the conclusion of the game’s story!
Is this real??? He said he wasn’t going to do this 🤔
He said he would not be doing Boost for Lemmy, and that he would focus on smaller apps:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BoostForReddit/comments/14ehiqs/comment/jow1le5
And he only registered the Lemmy community to prevent impersonation:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BoostForReddit/comments/14ehiqs/comment/jouvuok
I wonder if he put this on the store as a placeholder to also prevent impersonation?
EDIT: Damn, just saw the screenshots. Either this is a very elaborate placeholder, or it’s really happening!
What version of Android are you on? Android 12 or below? It was removed entirely in Android 13. It can be “patched back in” on a custom ROM, but doing so breaks the recents screen due to incompatible changes made to the system launcher (which handles the recents screen for… some reason).
Or maybe you have a Samsung or other phone that has their own 2 button implementation. But as far as I’m aware, it’s gone from AOSP as of Android 13 :(
Surely Google did user testing… didn’t they?
They do extensive testing, but only on clowns.
Still bewilders me Google got rid of the 2 button navigation style. They hit the nail on the head with that one, it was a perfect balance of convenience and speed, and they went and gutted it for a half-baked ripoff of iOS’ gesture system. Cannot explain how upset I am over that.
That’s not the person I originally asked.
The person I asked actually did reply to me on this thread… but didn’t answer how they know all this.
