Although you may be right about why they did it, I feel like imagery of gambling is not meant to be ‘something that is in any way related to something that happens to be gambling’, it’s when gambling is shown but you’re not the one gambling. If someone in game is gambling that’s imagery, if a game uses cards for something that is not gambling it’s not imagery.
At the same time movies based on a recognized intellectual property tend to omit crucial pieces of character and world building, because come on, the audience is supposed to know that.
And this is how they often produce garbage that is impossible to understand if you are not in the know, and impossible to watch if you are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Michael Douse, Larian’s publishing director, called Steam “a democratic platform.”
“There’s like two of those, I think,” he said. “Steam, and the Switch, too, is quite a democratic platform. If your game is really, really good, you have a very good chance that people on Steam will see it. You have to make an effort, it has to be good, it’s not that simple, but it’s so much better than, for example, having to campaign for your game with somebody else for like 12 months to get their store team to care about it.”
I wonder if GoG and itchio are not democratic, don’t provide a good enough discoverability, not aligned enough with corporate values, or something else.
Both seem to be quite good and democratic for me as a client 🤔
As far as I know, it’s usually not so in gaming and in software in general. But since software is easier to abandon when you feel like it (I know buildings, too, sometimes stand incomplete for decades) so it is easier to suddenly close the project and say goodbye to everyone working on that project.
Regarding the alpha/beta point, increase in internet availability and rolling updates probably made all the work in that shift. In the old days if you published a raw product it would take a hell of an effort to amend it. Now it’s just a matter of a user not plugging the internet off for some time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Our memories aren’t wiped when we switch jobs
Now that’s the real problem here /s
Also, this already been a trope in a movie
I recently bought Samsung tags to track my cat, too. The app is available on Pixel but it doesn’t allow me to pair with the tag, so no, it’s a bit more complicated
