I recently bought Samsung tags to track my cat, too. The app is available on Pixel but it doesn’t allow me to pair with the tag, so no, it’s a bit more complicated

A good link, maybe image may be harmful even if it’s without context

So, you’re suggesting we make games per hour subscription? A good idea /s

Although you may be right about why they did it, I feel like imagery of gambling is not meant to be ‘something that is in any way related to something that happens to be gambling’, it’s when gambling is shown but you’re not the one gambling. If someone in game is gambling that’s imagery, if a game uses cards for something that is not gambling it’s not imagery.

Maybe winning a game award while being solo developer studio, it feels like this to me

So… solitaire should be 18+ after all?

Now I want to start playing NMS, I’ve had it in my backlog for a while

I think that if replies are rare and spot on, it may be a good PR. But do it every time and it will just be a waste of time without any good results

I think the point is they either assume themselves to be right because no one argued, or because everyone who argued is brainwashed woke-zombie.

So if the result is the same, it may be wiser to skip the arguing part ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They should’ve hired Uwe Boll as a director, at least they would’ve had an excuse then

At the same time movies based on a recognized intellectual property tend to omit crucial pieces of character and world building, because come on, the audience is supposed to know that.

And this is how they often produce garbage that is impossible to understand if you are not in the know, and impossible to watch if you are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In my opinion, not all cinematic games are trying to be movies, some do it right and preserve the essence of what game is, about others we probably not hear too much except for how bad they turn out to be

This game is just soooo good (and almost as frustrating)

Yeah, it makes a nice deception, and is legally ok, or at least they thought so

Anarchy is a good description, yeah, discovering things on itchio is not easy, and I usually only come by external recommendations to specific projects

Although I agree that BG3 was not exactly well polished, it was far from being “blatantly unfinished”. I’d even say it was far more finished than what can be considered finished by contemporary standards

Getting their screen in front and collecting all the data they possibly can reach

I thought of getting a jailbroken Quest only to find that this is no longer possible to be done, so no Quest for me then

Michael Douse, Larian’s publishing director, called Steam “a democratic platform.”

“There’s like two of those, I think,” he said. “Steam, and the Switch, too, is quite a democratic platform. If your game is really, really good, you have a very good chance that people on Steam will see it. You have to make an effort, it has to be good, it’s not that simple, but it’s so much better than, for example, having to campaign for your game with somebody else for like 12 months to get their store team to care about it.”

I wonder if GoG and itchio are not democratic, don’t provide a good enough discoverability, not aligned enough with corporate values, or something else.

Both seem to be quite good and democratic for me as a client 🤔

This is but their legit response was “dunno, that wasn’t supposed to happen but it kinda did, maybe don’t do anything now, we’ll try to fix it sometimes”, so this is not that far:

developer response: "Hi all! I just wanted to pop in and let you know we're looking into what's happened as you were of course supposed to keep access to the Beach Properties content until the patch that moves it to the base game arrived. Assets are replaced by the placeholder boxes, but as the waterfront zoning isn't available in the base game yet, I recommend holding off on loading saves with a lot of those zones. At this time we don't have an ETA for when this is resolved, but at the very least the upcoming patch (date still to be announced) will resolve it as the assets become part of the base game. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience this is causing!

What any corporation hears:

[some noise] for corporate profit

I get too invested in collecting things, so grind or paying to complete your collection are the reddest of red flags for me.

That includes gacha, of course, which this game may not be, afaik

As far as I know, it’s usually not so in gaming and in software in general. But since software is easier to abandon when you feel like it (I know buildings, too, sometimes stand incomplete for decades) so it is easier to suddenly close the project and say goodbye to everyone working on that project.

On a tangential note, I doubt that the license you include will have any influence on people doing scraping for commercial AI :(

Also, I am not sure what is the default licence the content on forums/lemmy is posted under and if that can be changed by including an overriding licence 🤔

Regarding the alpha/beta point, increase in internet availability and rolling updates probably made all the work in that shift. In the old days if you published a raw product it would take a hell of an effort to amend it. Now it’s just a matter of a user not plugging the internet off for some time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve played a different one and resisted spending cash. One day I felt depression getting worse over my addiction to that game and had given all of my accounts to other players and uninstalled everything. It felt kinda bad for a week or two but then got better. I’d say you still can win that

For wiping memory of ex-workers? Or for illegal non competitive contract items? You lost me somewhat

Ah, nevermind, I got your point. Yes it happens and it doesn’t always happen fairly

Our memories aren’t wiped when we switch jobs

Now that’s the real problem here /s

Also, this already been a trope in a movie

That is if you will have enough to keep going until you win. Having to pay a hundred grands for years may be a price to just prove you’re innocent, after that you’ll be refunded (sometime)

Or maybe people could steer the culture in one way or another by encouraging/discouraging specific behaviour. Nah, sounds like an unrealistic thing

On a serious note, self-regulation should be simpler in a smaller community, so it might work better here than on Reddit

I’m kinda with you on that, without knowing that Hasbro doesn’t own Larian this can be misread.

But I guess that the overly angry tone made people quite upset about your comment

No-o-o, because then it may make money for others, think about all the lost profits. Better shut them completely /s
