I think most people agree we need to significantly lower VAR usage, but I don’t think it should be gotten rid of completely. American Baseball allows for 1 challenge per team, per game. If the challenge is successful, then they get their challenge back and can challenge again. If not, that’s it for them.
I think something like that is probably the way to go.
The question we have to answer is always going to be a question of what’s more important: getting it right or the flow of the game? Do you prefer the game moving quickly, even if the calls are wrong? That game was an outlier for a great many reasons, but it was a game that was going to happen. Sooner or later we were gonna have a game so wildly over-refereed that it was going to completely consume the game itself.
I personally prefer the old standard as well. I don’t think surgical precision was ever imagined in the original implementation of the offsides rule, and I think “benefit of the doubt to the striker” is the best way to play the game and the best way for fans.
I understand how we got here, I understand peoples’ frustration, and I think that stuff like this is what causes changes.
That’s right, there is no single vision. That’s why there’s so many different front ends. I currently pay $5/month to 4 different ones cause I like where they’re going. Which do you support?
So obviously we’re talking about it and you want one and there isn’t one. Why do you think that is? Do you think that maybe projects and protocols “speak” direction by the implementation? Do you think that the fact there’s a bunch of front ends and apps for Lemmy and Mastodon and all the rest and NONE of them have this feature might be a clue that the fediverse is trying to tell you something?
No, I mean, I guess “the fediverse” didn’t come right out and say it to me, but I guess I can read between the lines.
But I’m super excited to see your investment in what you want! Post back here with what you come up with.
My account has been locked up because my daughter has three separate BG3 games going with friends. Last week my son said we need to put a time limit on her because nobody else can play on Steam.
