I’m at the point where I’ll take anyone beating the oil teams at any time, even other oil teams.

Well I’m a Newcastle fan with years and years of suffering embedded in my soul, so I’ll take this any day. We aren’t doing this because of oil persay… We had a fat fuck of an owner who ran the club into the ground. We haven’t invested astronomical money or bought any prima donna overpriced players… Our best investment was Eddie Howe who at the time was the coach of a relegated team. You can hate the Saudis all you want, but at least respect that Eddie is doing this with team spirit and a group of players that weren’t anybody’s household name by any means

I agree with the commenter below and you, I don’t think Newcastle is automatically bad but it’s not like Aston Villa or Fulham would have been able to go after the same targets for the same fees that Newcastle have gotten since the takeover.

Chelsea spent way way more than us on higher profile players and have regressed. It’s not solely about spending money. Question… How many of our newly acquired players since the takeover had you honestly heard about before we bought them? We have overall been very frugal, we haven’t broken the 100 million mark as many teams have. Isak is by far our record signing at 70 million, all the others are way less. And many of our key players now are players that Howe found there and re-invented. We also suffer from price gouging when clubs see us coming and if they go too far with that our negociation team walks. It’s easy for somebody to use the crutch of saying we have big oil money while ignoring the serious restraints of financial fair play… Instead of admitting we out played or out coached them.

I only tangentially pay attention to English soccer so honestly from watching the last handful of seasons of Champions League and Europa League and a bit of FIFA, myself and most people outside of England have heard of every single transfer Newcastle have gotten. Hate to break it to you but Newcastle weren’t the only ones to know about Tonali, Bruno, and Botman but teams like Brighton, Villa, Crystal Palace, etc wouldn’t have been able to buy that combo of players not even including Gordon, Livramento and Barnes.

They have done a good job of not bending over or just going for players like Neymar and coaches like Ancellotti but they are still MUCH closer to the tier of Chelsea/ManCity/PSG than Brighton or even Nottingham who keep buying any player that pops into their minds.

I call bullshit, the fact that you even call it soccer makes me not give credence to what you say lol,. But anyway, we’ll be laughing all the way to trophies and I actually don’t give a fuck what you think.

On the imaginary alignment chart of oil teams, Newcastle is easy to root for over fuckin City. And yea, I like that Howe is the coach. He doesn’t feel like an oil team coach, but he’s getting it done.
