Which is one of the reasons I’d still buy one.

I couldn’t get one myself. The battery issue is none for me. It’s not rare that battery replacement becomes (nearly) impossible for final users once it reaches its EOL, so I switched to gadgets that use standard size rechargeable batteries if possible.

Honestly, these are the ones that matter. From those, you can choose depending on what type of work are you planning to do with your computer.

For servers: Red Hat (but it’s paid), OpenSUSE, Debian, FreeBSD

Desktop (very new hardware): Arch, Fedora

Desktop (other hardware): Mint, Ubuntu, Debian

Hardcore, embedded, very specific needs: Gentoo, Slackware, Arch

I kind of hate Elden Ring. I’ve played plenty of these games, but I’ve died easily like 2 or 3 times more here. And, more often than ever, I don’t know what to do next, which is easily compensated with another couple of deaths. Nah, I will never watch this.

It’s not just a name. It’s policy, it’s discourse. If it was just one isolated case, Mexico would have let it go, wait for Trump to loose another election and negotiate, but this is not an isolated case, so, it makes sense to fight back and keep Trump with full hands. Also, Google are assholes.

Yes, it is a free and open source app for Lemmy.

Thank you. I didn’t know that, so no Heroic Launcher on my side. I’ll have it mind, see if it works for me.

It also reads fine in Thunder. Maybe it’s something in the app, the post seems quite heavy on the markdown side.

I want to like them, but I use Linux and they contribute almost nothing to gaming on Linux, so, I switched to Steam as my primary store for games. I still hope they do better and buy them games from time to time.

Oh, wow! Amazing post, great job here! Loved to read through it, follow links and read more stuff! That Nintendo PlayStation was a rabbit hole!

I’m currently bashing my head with Elden Ring, dying all the time, figuring maybe I’m to old for videogames. I played DS2, DS3 and Bloodborne before, so I’m not new, but other things like online gaming and mount-fighting are too complicated for me. Items are just too many, difficulting me to actually use them. Never played online, ever, do not like the whole idea. Also had a run for Dying light but didn’t finish it. IDK, I’ve died a lot in videogames lately. Kind of tired of dying.

How do you people propose to call them? Expansionists? Colonialists? Genocidists?

Some people don’t use smartphones. An article in prioridata states that, in this year, 974.6 millions of Chinese people use smartphones. They are still a lot of Apple users, but less than 200 million, still probably similar to their USA customer base to put it in perspective.

That’s still shady, though. Google/YouTube’s “content creators” should reject and expose this kind of deal.

Is there a reasonable explanation for this or is it plain greed? In my book, technology gets always cheaper, but scalability is also always a concern.

Awesome. If people don’t give a fuck about their privacy, can I buy a subscription to just watch?

Place Pikachu surprised face meme here for me, please. Apple simps, unite.

EDIT: They always do.

This is outrageous. I can see it happening all the time but I wish there were more visibility about this.

Jesus Christ. Good for you, I guess. The one year generation is the most innocent comment I’ve read this week. Impressive? They maintain the one mobile phone, and lately a couple of variants, they are still the most profitable company ever, right? I’m not impressed at all.

In theory, yes they can, in practice employees and elder people don’t work very well together, and these employers are there just for appearances.

I actually despise the way banking has changed. Elder people, barely familiar with making calls from a mobile phone, are expected to use their phone banking app as a security token, to say something that happens every day. And that’s talking about people that can actually afford a mobile phone with internet access.

Well, as an off put people myself, I’ll never know. Can’t trust them.

Apple did plan for their devices to be obsolete and then they tried to sell it as a feature. That’s all I’m saying.

Everyone knows iPhones last longer than regular Androids. I mean obsolete because Apple decides, conveniently, when they need to appear as obsolete, or when you start using an unsupported device, even if it’s perfectly useful and performant. To those people buying one phone each year I don’t know what to tell you, I don’t imagine they have a clue about what planet they live on.

Even 2nd hand, these devices are overpriced and still soon-to-be obsolete.

Jesus fucking Christ, let’s burn the web already!

Their true business now is to rent Microsoft Office. Windows is now just a means to sell people all kinds of services.
