Yeah, that’s the implication. Unfortunately, that is also misleading people into believing they might get a well-tested, nearly bug free game.

At 7h / day of just testing, 200k hours amount to approximately 110 years, given 260 working days per year.

Veilguard has been in development for around 9 years, so thats about 12 “years of testing per year”, so pretty much at least 12 people doing nothing else but testing (this assumes sane working conditions - hi EA!)

Given how long the game has been in development, what does that number even mean? How much of the stuff they wrote 9 years ago is still in place, given that players would expect the technological advancements available since 2015.

Also, it’s supposed to be released end of October, I believe? Or has it been postponed even further (again)? Anyway, why would they claim something like that before release? That will probably backfire.

So, female leads in video games are fine when used and perceived as a novelty? Special and cool like they used to be? You can tolerate them if the game is good? Jesus man, I don’t know what to tell you…

I enjoyed reading that. Helldivers sounds like a fun game, and I’ll be rooting to keep the mines locked forever now, too - no matter how much the children yearn for them.

Honestly, it looks great. I think it has retained some of its original charms, visually.

I was only marginally aware they were working on a remake, and I just learned it will be available for VR. Apart from art/media crossovers in exhibits, I have not touched VR, nor did I have any desire to, but I can see it working for something like Riven. Maybe I’ll try that.

I took your suggestion and went to a pitch black room and re-enrolled all fingerprints. No significant improvement.

Yes, absolutely worse than the 6. At least it was possible to get the one in the 6 to do what you want, whereas the fingerprint reader in the 8 requires the user to adjust their behavior - and that’s with already enrolling multiple fingerprints per finger etc.

It’s workable, but it requires adjustment and it does fail every once in a while in an annoying way. The 8 does have face unlock though.

The fingerprint reader is worse, though. So much in fact that you kinda have to develop a feeling for the exact amount of pressure and “finger rolling” to make it work. After a few days you kinda figure it out, but naturally, every once in a while it just stops working right in that awkward moment when you are not in a position to type in your password.

Overall, not unhappy with the upgrade though. I’d get it again.

I can report that the speakers on the Pixel 8 Pro are a massive improvement. I have owned all Pixel phones since the 2.

Nice, I did not know such a connector existed - that will be useful for completely different and unrelated use cases.

While I had toyed with the idea of a portable, Japanese - made DAC for a while, I switched to Bluetooth headphones years ago. Started out with a cheap Philips headset for $50, later on got the Bose QC 35 II (still my daily driver when outside) and finally worked my way up to the Sony WH-1000XM5.

I did not realize how nice active noise cancelation is. Plus, the frequency reproduction of the XM5 with LDAC enabled is absolutely fine.

On the cons side, you’re walking around with $300 - $400 on your head, which is an absolutely luxury, plus you’ll get headphones that perform equally well in the sound department (minus the excellent ANC and freedom from cables) for a lot less.

Hyperbole aside, I’d still be worried that any cable physically connected to my phone would break the port over time - mostly because that has happened to me in the past with multiple devices.

To add to OP’s comment: reviews are not only a means to form an opinion on wether to buy an upcoming title.

Yeah, the game might be older, but there are still people out there who have not played it. But that’s beside the point - I, for example, watch this channel because I’m interested in Mandalore’s opinion, his take on a game. I have absolutely played A Machine for Pigs back in the day (and found it mediocre compared to the actual Frictional Games titles), so watching the video is akin to talking to a friend over a drink: “hey, remember xyz? that was a (great | crappy | forgettable) game…”

This kind of content might take me back to a game I haven’t played in ages and makes me mentally engage with the title again - or it might put the spotlight on an obscure title few have ever heard of, or a rare forgotten gem that somehow was overlooked.

Many players do not have a desire to only play the latest and newest games, but actively look for older titles, maybe due to nostalgia, maybe due to the games having a different focus, structure etc. back then. Not saying that “everything was better” in the olden days, but different strokes for different folks, right.

I know nothing about the character, but it’s sure possible to have some fun with even the old Vocaloid technology.

Musical stuff starts at around 2:00

Edit: I just realized if you’re reading this and are interested into Vocaloid, this is not a representative video. It’s just showing off a fun, cheap pocket synth.

Not everyone has to be neurodivergent to not want to use a credit card on the Internet - there have been plenty of leaks for this to be a valid stance. Also, let’s not forget about other countries where credit cards play basically no significant role in day to day payment activities and people view them as “oddities” (for a lack of a better term).

Also, depending on how you hand your credit card info over, and if mechanisms like EMV 3d secure are in place, some merchants basically obtain a copy of your card and it’s on you to check the validity of the transaction and also re-check that no additional transactions have been made over time. While it is certainly good practice to go over your credit card statement each month, I could totally understand if someone wanted to avoid that hassle and the one that comes with a dispute.
