Look, I’m all about fairness…but why prevent people from colouring themselves blue and adding a white flappy hat?

All I can say is - I dont give a shit, but thank god they used her proper, actual design rather than the redesign bollocks.

I’ll likely never play COD again but that’s the best Lara Croft has looked in years. Makes me want a true modern sequel to the originals.

It’s worth it, it has some of the best highs in any Zelda. The arbiters grounds boss battle is still awesome, and the final proper temple is fun as hell

It’s just such a frustrating game in terms of pacing

The start is fucking horrible. Goat herding? Fishing? Finding a basket? Why?? it only picks up once you get to the forest temple, and that’s a significant way in.

The whole game just meanders and moves at a glacial pace. It’s the complete opposite of Link to the Past, for example. Still good but I remember being frustrated with it.

Not as frustrated as with Skyward Sword and that swimming part. Hooooly shit that was bad.

Heh, I got it at launch on the GameCube (didn’t buy a wii until a year later), and I’ve only played it maybe twice since then. Definitely due a replay.

TP was a slog at times but had the best boss battles and some amazing dungeons. Majora’s Mask is still my favourite.

i9 9900k @ 5ghz, WD black 1tb nvme, RTX 3080 12gb, 32gb ddr4 ram, win10

I get 60fps in totk

That’s a bingo

My example was just the first that came to mind. But like baldurs gate, you can tell the amount of care and passion that has been put into it. And it’s a AAA title no matter whether people think otherwise due to it being a Switch exclusive (admittedly, I only play switch games nowadays on my PC emulated in 4k60fps but still…)

No, that was 2. That mechanic and plot point doesn’t exist in 3. 3 has very little, if any, fanservice, most due to its dark subject matter (infinite war, limited lifespans)

And yes, AAA. It cost multiple millions, hundreds of staff working on it, hundreds of hours of VA including notable UK talent (Jenna Coleman, etc), a fully orchestral soundtrack by Yasunori Mitsuda recorded in multiple countries, and the game itself pushes the switch to breaking point. It absolutely counts and is considered by Nintendo as one.

There’s loads of other examples of decent single player experiences without bullshit, this one just came to mind first. And I hope Baldurs Gate’s success brings more like these

Meanwhile:

Jan 2022: “Heres xenoblade 3, an absolutely gigantic single player game, no microtransactions, pushes the console to it’s absolute limit, Monolithsoft at the top of their fucking game. Announced today, out in september.”

April 2022: “Lol, it’s now out in july. Enjoy.”.

Baldurs gate is fucking sweet, but let’s not act like it’s a unique occurance in AAA gaming.

I’ve never actually used twitch before. Ever.

I’m getting old…

But yeah, if I need a walkthrough on how to do something, I’ll always prefer written instructions/guides.

I have never felt the need to use YouTube for anything aside from classic comedy clips, music, gameplay clips and trailers. So, YouTube personalities like these pass me by. I’m one of those types who instantly closes a video if I hear commentary or talking over it. I don’t want to hear that shite.

Maybe it’s because I grew up without YouTube, unlike my daughter. She watches so much utter shit on there, unfortunately.

However, I have watched one LTT video before when doing some electronic engineering classes, and we were shown one to explain some thing I can’t remember. I do remember saying the guy seemed like a right prick, to the chagrin of others in my class. A smug, know-it all prick.

Well, guess who feels vindicated today! Me!

I can’t believe I completed the game, like fully completed to 105% or whatever it was as a kid. How?!

There is an awesome ROM patch that gives you the ability to swap Kongs on the fly by pressing left and right on the d-pad. It makes the game significantly better to play: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4961/

And Alyx is incredible

I’ve only had a select few genuine “holy fuck” moments during gaming where I have genuinely been stunned. One being Mario 64 in 1996, the other being Half Life Alyx.

It’s a shame it’s in a medium that restricts how many people can actually play the thing. The VR-less mod does the game a huge disservice.

Yeah that’s how I felt playing Quake 1 remaster in VR. Got used to it eventually but hooooly shit no other game has ever made me nauseous until then

Been playing Quake 1 with the pc VR mod, which was an experience. Hoping quake 2 gets the same
