Epic doesn’t play nice with Linux, and lemmy is a Linux-centric place - that’s nearly all of the hate. I find Linux to be a pain in the ass because everything else I use, and am of my games, are Windiws native. I click the install button and never have to worry about which version of proton will work. It’s the second worst thing about my Steamdeck (the first is, of course, that atrocious keyboard).

You will be able to tell how rabid the Linux continent is here by the number of down votes I get for saying that windows is simply a better gaming platform and Epics nose-thumbing at Linux causes me exactly zero worries because I play on the OS these games were made for.

I guess printing a correct headline of “sued for copyright infringement “ isn’t click baity enough. Because that’s all it is. Dbrand is lucky they haven’t been sued by the board manufacturers for creating an unlicensed derivative work (which is what the case art is, just as the photo of a sculpture, even stylized, has been deemed derivative - especially when the reproduction is intended to represent the original).

A PR stunt until they feel things have blown over and they’ll ramp right back up.

It’s less of a stunt and more of human nature. They messed up, they realize it, they put controls in place to prevent similar errors, they get into a groove, they loosen the rules to streamline the process, they mess up, they realize it, …

This is how every single entity in every single production industry works. Financial markets? Obviously. Food Safety? Of course. Buildings and bridges? Uh, yeah. Security? In the news all the time. Submersible adventures to the Titanic? LOL. It is an exceptionally rare condition where an error and a reaction leads to a permanent chance in procedure (though they do exist).

Many years ago I switched from iOS to Android specifically because android allowed you to circumvent carrier restrictions on hotspot functionality (at least unofficially). I guess Ajit Pai has bent the knee to telecoms now.

How much 5e do you have to know to enjoy Balders Gate 3?
I mean, the title is mostly it. I haven’t played DnD for…long enough that I know none of the rules and few of the classes. I didn’t play BG or BG2. It looks so shiny, but I’m afraid I would just be 100% lost. Can anyone say what it’s like to go in cold?
fedilink

“I own the only patent - I will license it for just $10/square inch.”

And that’s a short story about how eInk never got commercialized.

node_modules directory

I need better glasses; my first read through I thought that was his nude_models directory and I wondered, exactly, where do you work?

Aside from the easy part, and a game selection that’s clearly less than pancake, wireless with the Q2 is cheap, wireless (even for PCVR), and stupid fun. Setup is still a bit onerous as nobody in the money chain has a reason to make it easy. OTOH, a $40 router, $10 for virtual desktop, and a balling game PC is all you really need.

I rarely have more than an hour or two for gaming at a times. So the weight of the headset and any battery life issues are moot.

If you went high tier, did you leave enough coin for a Quest 2 headset? With a cheap, dedicated router you can stream wirelessly and the experience is mind blowing. Games like HL:Alyx are ridiculous; I just wish there were more native ports to VR.

1Password is an expense I cringe at every year. After trying several others, though,I settled on its expensive-but-simple option. The biggest advantage is that my family uses it - wife, daughter, parents, in-laws - on my family account. We have several shared vaults for passwords which affect subsets from in-laws sharing critical financial passwords with her, my parents with me, to my daughter and I teaming up on Starbucks and Panera.

The best part is that it’s simple enough for our octogenarian parents to use, and I help set it all up and got their emergency recovery kits created, filled out, and stored in their safety deposit boxes. As long as I can keep them using it I’ll keep paying for it.

O can’t remember exactly, but there s a procedure out there to add a non steam game to your deck, then it shows up in the game mode interface. It might have to be added on desktop mode, then it will be avail on steam mode. It’s basically the same hack as getting GOG or Epic launchers into Steam iirc.

I’m on iOS. In 6-7 years I will have the chance to buy the iPhone 20 Pro Mega Butterfly - one of the first folding screens in a phone [with: insert apple technicality] at barely a 40% markup over the Android versions and with some fatal flaw that will be my fault for noticing. I’m just giddy with anticipation.

Small phones have shittier cameras.

I like the idea of a small phone but, if I’m being honest, I’d probably use an iPad Mini as my phone if it had the ProMax (or better) imaging group on it.

And when you scratched up the back you bought a new one for $12. No $200 glass or machined aluminum cases that we put $35 covers on just to protect them from every day use.
