Yup, lemmy users frequently seem to have this strange idea that lemmy is somehow representative of the Nintendo customer base. I agree that I find Nintendo’s business practices terrible and their last Pokemon mainline title was frankly boring and uninteresting. But the reality is also that Scarlet/Violet was the second-best selling Pokemon game ever.

Yup, I remember even back in the print era there was significant criticism about the relationships between games publishers and various magazines resulting in what was essentially advertising disguised as articles. Payment was either indirect (exclusive access to preview builds etc) or direct via in-magazine advertising. Can’t badmouth the big flagship game releases too much when EA just paid big bucks to advertise the very same title for the next view editions.

Honestly my greatest fear for the game is that it’s just bland. I can live with a flawed game (the original VTMB certainly could be called a flawed game itself after all.), but I think blandness would be the real killer for me.

Wonder if they copied that from their pitch deck or something, I don’t think I have ever seen that touted as a feature in any other context.

Nope, because review bombing doesn’t exist on steam. You have to own the game to review it. A customer leaving a negative review is not review bombing.

Molyneaux is of course an extreme case, but I do find it remarkable how many of these “legends” of old utterly failed to replicate their success later down the line. Romero, Mitsoda, Roberts, so many more, all in the lamplight for their success in the 90s to very early 2000s, but utterly unable to live up to their reputation for near 3 decades after.

I have vague memories of playing the demo on a friend’s playstation, I think at the time I was kinda disappointed that you only got to play the fuchikoma.

Yeah a lot of the comments I have seen are outright bizarre, EA won’t change in any noticeable form. It’s maximum profit extraction now and it will remain maximum profit extraction after.

There’s definitely some rough spots, as well as some hints of changes to the storyline and possibly planned endings, but I don’t think the latter will be touched and I would be surprised to see structural changes to the story at this point. That being said, I could potentially see some side story content, but I am uncertain what form it’d take.

Dude had entirely disappeared from my timelines before every youtuber and lemmy poster seemingly felt the need to tell me about how naughty he is.

Yup, I don’t watch his content, but looking at his actual viewership numbers, he doesn’t even remotely have the impact to make or break a petition by himself.

Yeah I mean even the newest Core 2 Quad would be like 14 years old or so by now.

Yeah, often learning anything more than the meme itself is that way, if only because you often find out about the rather sad route many of those early viral meme people went down.

So I haven’t looked into the details of their respective rise to their position, but Jensen Huang (Nvidia’s CEO) and Lisa Su (AMD) are cousins, make of that what you will.

I suspect they don’t even believe in this themselves, this is just a last ditch attempt at squeezing a little more cash out of dumb investors before declaring bankruptcy eventually. Seeing how one of their investors was Square Enix, that might even work.

That is unfortunate, more competition in that segment is desperately needed.

Yup, it’s always the same model, pretty sure with the precise (and likely not incorrect) assumption that at least some amount of people will buy it twice at full price if they do that.

Despite what the author “imagined”, it’s not Beamdog doing this, one of Beamdogs lead devs confirmed that already on the steam forums. I am also not quite sure what an NWN 2 EE would imply, given that the game was in a far worse state than any of the others that got an EE.

Even 20 years ago im applications with voice support had hundreds of millions of users. Msn messenger at its peak had 300 million active users.

TeamSpeak was never “here” in the first place, it certainly had its niche among certain gaming communities, but it - never - had as much traction as Discord does today. I am sure a design refresh is going to lure some older gamers back, but I am unconvinced it’ll even make a dent in Discord usage.

Headlines. This is literally just a marketing thing, just like every other instance of the tech before it. No one is ever actually going to build this for home use

Yeah galaxy is sadly a bit of a mess. Back when i was still running windows it broke its own update capabilities once or twice.

Yeah I am not sure what‘s up with the pretenses there, lowbrow and scatological humor has been very much Borderlands brand.

Why’d Sony Interactive take them over? If anything it’d be the Sony group, which is japanese.

I mean they aren’t wrong, due to piracy we know how awful the performance impact of Denuvo on games is (^:

Same here, and frankly, what kind of title is “Unknown 9: Awakening” supposed to be? That reads like an internal Codename they forgot to change pre-release:

Much as I love WOTR, hard disagree there. BG 3 is much better in terms of reactivity and consequences, polish, and all of its mechanics work properly. Meanwhile WOTR has the stumps that are 50% of its mythic paths, the not particularly well received crusade mode, and one of the worst dungeons I can remember in rpg history (I will freely admit that this last point is not as objective as the rest of my argument, but I know I am far from alone with this opinion).

An Ubisoft exec described Skull & Bones as the first AAAA game. Given the generally unfavorable reception this game got, “AAAA game” has become an expression of mockery.

Sure, you could, but given beths track record in that regard, why would they? They have been perfectly happy shipping Skyrim to new platforms with the same bugs for nearly a decade.
