I mean, I played Firewatch. It’s part suspense and mystery but I felt there was a possible romance angle there that is hard to deny. You can make it platonic and straightforward but I remember feeling quite connected to the person on the other line.
Then again, I’m twice the age of a “teen” so I don’t know if it fits.
Yeah you’re absolutely right in terms of concept. I mean if you dig into my example, Suicide Squad could have been a good live-action shooter as well. Marvel Rivals is cooking right now.
I think my initial impression was switching a single-player studio over, but I lost that message in my reply. I also think it could be fun to take down mechs together as a team.
Just pulling it out of my ass, I didn’t think I see the appetite and if it’s not there then we could be left with a lackluster game.
I’m a big Horizon fan. Although I need to try Monster Hunter, my friends love it.
Oh, I didn’t mean this-therefore-that … I was trying to say that these two games in my experience having enjoyed the single-player, I think would have failed in the multiplayer realm as the desire doesn’t seem to be there. I’m certain there are examples in the opposite direction.
The IP “could” make sense as the gameplay goes for a very fetch questy type of mechanic and the land is vast and they could expand the lore.
I was just assuming (out of my ass) that these successful single-player story driven games are “forced” to do multiplayer games for cash grabs.
Albeit Blizzard did it for WarCraft, but I always saw Blizzard differently in this regard as it seemed like they had (very much past tense) the desire to do so.
Once again, all assumptions. I’m wrong, often am.
But it worked so well with the multiplayer shooter Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady Studios! /s
I know it’s not an MMO but there’s parallels there
I love the Horizon games (didn’t play the Lego version though) and it’s similar to the Batman games but don’t have any interest in an MMO or Live Action Shooter for them.
I almost bought Diablo 4 a few times but remembered who the company was. The Overwatch 2 fiasco made me avoid joining in. WC3 Remake was a disaster …
After hearing about Bobby Kotick (sp?) the prick CEO who destroyed the company to completely enrich himself and hearing stories from Thor (PirateSoftware) about Blizzard it makes me never want to support them ever.
Makes me sad because I remember a time where I was such a champion of Blizzard. I just knew any game they had was solid back then.
I’m playing it, I really enjoy it and I never played Overwatch. I was and am still a Heroes of the Storm player, which is fun and I like.
I think at the end of the day it’s just fun. 6v6 and you get to mess with your ults. There’s characters that you don’t need good aim for and need to be strategic instead. You can also go ham like Wolverine, Iron Fist and Cap. It’s just fun to dive in and go for it. There’s only three classes: tank, DPs and healer or Vanguard, Duelist and Strategist. You’ll pick it up quickly and the help menu is just F1 so you can read about the abilities at any point.
If you prefer a third person game that’s more MOBA, there’s Deadlock. It has multiple lanes and minions to push. Marvel Rivals is more like ARAM and people using their ults to do insane cheating-like moves.
lol let me be clear, I’d be upset if I get thrown in too and I’ve been on losing streaks as well where I just couldn’t get it going for one reason or another.
I guess it does make sense from their perspective for player retention? But I agree with your guys sentiment overall, I would have hoped they’d not opt people with a certain number of hours into this.
I’d like to think they provide a useful service. “useful” as in entertaining and a sense of community. They get things wrong but I’d like to think that they try and in the “churn” of making videos and running a company you screw up every now and again.
I haven’t watched an LTT video in a while though. I just hate their thumbnails (I get the algorithm forces them) but over time I think their content just isn’t for me, but I can see why others would.
I mean I think I understand the argument for your distinction. I don’t play either games, I just watched VFX artists reaction and saw Snoop Dogg in it so I was wondering why it’s such a big deal with Tencent. As he does seem to “dance” in CoD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdhPvXhXoUM.
I may take slight issue with your last statement. To be clear, I’m not trying to have a “dishonest discussion”, I genuinely don’t understand the distinction and there isn’t really an article or anything here for me to clarify.
Thanks for your reply on it though it does clarify a bit more to me.
I don’t think any console that did releases annually would be worth buying and I think you have a solid point.
That being said, it is slightly different insofar as console games are not implicitly available across generations. What I mean is PS4 games are playable on PS5 but WiiU aren’t on Switch or what-have-you.
I think most people are crossing over PC/laptop updates with game consoles and the walls are being broken down a bit.
I think Steam doesn’t want to muddy the waters with “Steam Verified” and everything just yet. They’re eventually going to with an upcoming refresh of the system, but it’s easier to get devs and consumers on the same page with Steam Deck verified and the software and such if they don’t iterate every year.
What do I know though, I’m an idiot.
No lie, when I saw the ghosts in FF7: Remake or whatever … I forced myself to finish the game and there’s no way I’m likely to play any of the sequels.
Also, like, this is just me but I got into PlayStation games fairly late. I got a PS5 and I played God of War 4 and was gobsmacked about how good that game played and looked. When I played FF7: Remake, the game itself looked amazing and a younger me would have loved seeing those graphics. However, I felt the cinematics and storyline were SO lackluster. I think after seeing God of War 4 cinematics, the FF7: Remake ones felt so dated …
Btw, I actually enjoyed FF15, I know it’s like unfinished with drama and all that but I really did like playing that game.
I have a friend that worked on Stadia. He said he couldn’t believe how little faith they had in their own system.
My personal opinion is that almost everything about it seemed botched. Which was so strange because I think it was out during COVID and it seemed to be an ideal device when parts were expensive at the time.
I remember PirateSoftware talking about the remote play online co-op on steam, I think I found it here:

Definitely doesn’t seem to be sitting on it. Hell man, I have re-bought some games on other platforms just to re-play it on my Steam Deck.
I can’t defend/accost the 30% simply due to my lack of knowledge in the industry.
Yeah, almost every review is along the lines of “this is a technical marvel” to “and now it’s sitting on the shelf awaiting a purpose”.
Through VR, Apple was “at least seemingly” going to move from games being the primary use to office work, but every review I’ve seen has been lackluster for that. You can do cool things but it’s missing a lot of features like the screen sharing and stuff.
It seems to fall into the “solution looking for a problem” category.
I see a lot of downvotes from people. Listen, it’s okay to disagree and we can have discussions about it. None of the comments so far are offensive or anything. Tell these people why you disagree.
