Friends don’t let friends buy ASUS unless the purchasing friend enjoys months of customer support or RMA nightmare.

Great that ASUS is helping handheld PC gaming advance but from a consumer perspective, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone buying ASUS products.

Their customer service is legendary for being abysmal and for something like the Ally you need good support.

Dead Space (2008) ADS Cannon Puzzle. Epitome of game making. Guarantees 5 hours of your time whether you like it or not.

I mean, yeah, the author of the DBZ series Akira Toriyama was the core designer on the game, so it’s bound to have heavy DBZ vibes.

Toriyama designed the game’s aesthetic, including characters, monsters, vehicles, and the look of each era

Looks like Bethesda discovered ChatGPT.

Some of those replies are as bland, hunky-dory and sanitized as can be, with a dash of “you’re playing it wrong”.

First Nic Cage, then Chalamet? Death Stranding 2 cast is going to be stacked.

Could of, should of, would of. I’m not gonna loose sleep on it and I hope your not gonna

Nothing is literally nothing, Apple could care less about them.

Nothing’s solution is basically getting you to send your messages to them, and they’ll send it through a Mac logged into your Apple ID hence achieving the “blue bubble” lol. Hugely insecure, hacky solution and hardly groundbreaking.

Baldur’s Gate because it’s not a “mainstream” big-name-company AAA release.

Bro why you sleeping on Alan Wake

wdym, pretty easy through Heroic Launcher. I have GoG, Epic and Amazon Games working great on it.

having to spend any money on game isn’t a good thing.

Can you explain? How do you expect devs to make a living? Getting rid of microtransactions I can understand, but not paying for games at all seems overboard.

It’s a fun game, but completely missed the tone of the first two games. If you consider it a shooter with Dead Space mechanics and gameplay then it’s just a lot of fun, not a serious Dead Space game.

Both are good games. I would even argue that 2 is better than the original.

AI can be a great tool if used properly to enhance human work but companies seem hell-bent to instead have just AI do all the work, cutting human beings out completely and “saving costs”. Recipe for disaster.

We’re doomscrolling on Lemmy, so already well on our way.

The pickaxe is a better analogy. Unity engine is a tool that devs could leverage to build a great selling game, and the price-per-swing is a nice way to encapsulate the absurdity of Unity’s new fee structure.

It’s a business decision they made to go with Unity, there are risks that came along with it and they are dealing with it.

I’m sure FOSS options were considered at one point but it’s not really surprising that game devs are generally in the business of making games, and not in the business of spending money and resources to bootstrap FOSS tools or to please the community.

It might not be the best Quake game but it did a few things right. The fast and furious multiplayer is signature and is what probably cemented the style of multiplayer that Quake is known for today. The weapon roster is more balanced and who could forget the iconic railgun. The mod scene was incredibly vibrant and tons of fun. Truly a granddaddy of FPS.

cloud gaming is not the ideal solution for ‘access’ for those that would have to otherwise wait.

It is very ideal and is perfect for those scenarios…

anectodal but when crysis dropped in 07. it was what spurred me to save and build a PC in 2011 just to play Crysis, finally, at max settings the way it was properly meant to be enjoyed.

Now this is not a scenario for regular people. Nobody I know would drop cash on a new PC just to play a single game at max settings. Most people are just content that games work at a decent enough setting on the devices / console they have and that is what Game Pass offers.

Comparing Game Pass to watching movies in 240p is a false analogy. Most games on Game Pass run just fine, especially for the devices people play it on.

+1. It’s one of those games that got better overtime. When it came out in 2019 there were people like, “Really? A hiking / Amazon Prime simulator?”

But after the Pandemic, the isolation and theme of yearning connections really hit home, and the entire design and philosophy just clicked and worked for me. I started appreciate everything about the game. I think Hideo Kojima even said he’s going to try and not predict the future in Death Stranding 2 😄

Play it all the way through and you’ll see. It’s part of the reason why it’s so highly regarded.

Chrono Trigger. A timeless game that will make you laugh and cry and experience all that in between. The sequel Chrono Cross is also great but the original is just unrivalled.

I don’t think Tildes is turning anyone away, not sure where that narrative comes from. Anyone can request an invite from the owner themselves. They are just not looking for explosive growth like some of the other services are.

In fact I think the invite system is an effective way to keep the boys away as the free-for-all signups are easier to game.

Relax man lol. It sounds like you’ve been through some shit on the Fediverse, but it has nothing to do with me. Project your anger elsewhere.

And I wish I’m a Linux techie so I can wipe my lonely tears away every night with cold hard cash.

Well yeah, you are probably going though Reddit withdrawal. Comparing anything to Reddit and it’ll seem dead.

techy linux weirdo

Get outside of your own circle every once in a while

Not a fan of your incendiary language and provacatory flaming attempts, but pretty on-brand for refugees who misses Reddit like an ex. I mean, Reddit is still around and I’m sure they’ll take you back, just apologize and use the Official App™!

Reddit was great because there wasn’t really any benefit to getting “popular” on the platform

Strongly disagree. The whole Karma / award / Gold system combined with algorithms ensures a certain type of posts are favored, and comments / discourse of certain type gets upvotes and visibility. There is a pattern under the most popular Reddit posts and comments and it’s not hard to see.

Lemmy has sort of a half-hearted voting system which I feel is actually beneficial to the experience and the fact there is no algorithm messing about is another big plus.

And that’s totally fine. I have both and use both on a daily basis.

I just find it strange that people shitting on Tildes despite that it’s overall a healthy and well run community. We should really be glad that other communities are coming up, they are not mutually exclusive after all.

But is it though? By definition moderation and adminstration means a certain set of standard and rules to keep the community / site runs well. Tildes simply has their own set of standards that so far I think is working well.

Lemmy has mods too and there are plenty of powertripping drama. Does that make Lemmy elitist? Or less so simply because it allows shitposts and memes?

I think that’s an strong statement and overreaction on your part, but to that point mass adoption isn’t always a good thing.

I find that the content on Tildes are generally more respectful, thoughtful and higher quality. Much better signal to noise ratio. Lemmy does have quality stuff but there is also a lot more low quality / low effort content to wade through. Just look at the state of Showerthoughts / AskLemmy if you are looking for examples.

Dead Space. It’s like the brutal lovechild of Bioshock and Resident Evil. Cannot recommend the trilogy enough if you like the horror shooter genre. Especially Dead Space 1 and 2, truly ahead of its time.

I recommend playing the Original Trilogy first, then play the recently released Dead Space Remake if you’d like (OR be a real patient gamer and wait ten years before playing the Remake). The original trilogy should be pretty affordable everywhere but they are also all on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you have that.

Edit: I played the entire trilogy on my Steam Deck. Chef’s Kiss 👌

I don’t know if small amounts of text could do that, but I could imagine if LLMs keeps get trained on data generated by itself and other LLMs (which is likely to become a major source of content on the internet in the future), the quality of output can decrease significantly over time.
