So that’s why I had one update stuck on Steam yesterday.

Favourites

Witcher 3

Witcher 3 was one of the first “big games” I got to experience. I still think of the characters occasionally and it has some very memorable quests. It’s been on my “to replay” list for a while to see if it still holds up against my memories of it.

Nier: Automata

This is another early “big game” I played, though I didn’t finish it then. I won’t spoil it, but at some point I was up against a boss, way under levelled and didn’t feel like grinding. However I started a new playthrough this year, got further along and it’s still very good. The story telling and world building are simply excellent, combat is fun (except a certain section I won’t spoil) and I really want to see what else happens in my current play through. My only gripe is that keyboard & mouse sucks without an overhaul mode, which unfortunately doesn’t work on Linux.

Other games

I couldn’t think of a third game, so here’s a list of other good games that don’t quite make it.

  • Cyberpunk 2077: I like it, but it hasn’t really had as much of an impact as my two favourites.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3: Very good contender for my 3rd favourite spot, but I need to play through it a bunch more times.
  • Dishonored: I haven’t thought of this game in a while. It’s still very good, just not a contender for favourite.
  • Skyrim: One of my higher playtime games, but I see it more as a modded sandbox à la Minecraft that’s fun for 2 weeks.
  • Receiver 2: Very neat gun mechanics with an important central message
  • 1000xResist: Interesting story and message, though you won’t play this for the gameplay. Some awe inspiring visuals occasionally

EasyAntiCheat and BattleEye work on Linux thanks to Valve’s efforts. Unfortunately many devs explicitly deny Linux or only allow the Steam Deck.

Most other countries don’t do punitive damages, only compensatory. That makes winning in a judgment much less lucrative than in the US.

I agree that having more degrees of usage would be useful, but erring on the side of caution and declaring any AI use as a first step is better than doing nothing.

Do still sign if you can, some signatures might turn out to be invalid and we need a buffer against that.

Awesome! Now let’s get the EU one as well, much closer than before now. (840’000)

Looking for fan & noise comparison - RX 9060 XT
cross-posted from: https://feditown.com/post/1522327 > I'm looking to buy an RX 9060 XT and was hoping to collect more sources comparing different models. I'm mainly looking for noise & temperature comparisons between the base models available. > > So far the best source I found is Techpowerup. They have comparisons for stock behaviour and noise normalised between the 6 models they tested. From the base models, the Reaper has terrible cooling and the Sapphire Pulse unfortunately only offers 1 DisplayPort connector. > > Hardware Unboxed also only compares 3 higher end models in their review. Any total war game really, you also get the fun of actually commanding an army.

They need to create some new Creation Engine bugs first

So man others have tried this, I somehow doubt Microsoft will fully manage it either.

Just started playing Life is Strange
Not sure how I got the idea, but somehow I ended up searching for Life is Strange on Steam, noticed the first episode (of the original) was free and installed it. Yesterday I finally played episode 1 and immediately bought the other 4 episodes after. According to my steam achievement, I actually played Life is Strange for 40 minutes back in 2016, though I didn't stick with it back then. Looking back, I'd say I was definitely in the wrong age group back then to enjoy and relate to the story properly. Now I really enjoy the characters and I'm interested to experience the rest of the story. Might make another post when I finished it :)

Nowadays, you as a game dev have to actively block Linux through anticheat or do some extremely weird stuff for it not to work on Linux anyways.

It was a rare w for the YouTube algorithm. Didn’t know that guy beforehand.

It’s working for me 🤷

If you’re an EU citizen, please take the time to sign this citizen initiative to stop killing games. It could be our best chance of preventing such situations in the future.

Hollow Knight, though I don’t really listen to it outside the game.
Cyberpunk has some great songs on the radio.

*tried to

It was still close enough that the production company feels they can win with their claim.

Still, it makes adding new devices much more of a hassle.

Cannibalism is a viable option. Do you need more?

I didn’t play it at the time because of the bugs, but from what I saw the good parts of Cyberpunk were already present. Stuff like storytelling, interesting characters etc.
Starfield has none of that.

If ES6 is just a refreshed Skyrim I really see no reason to buy it. There are much more interesting RPGs than the Bethesda style nowadays.

As a user there simply was/is no incentive to use other stores when the game is the same price. There has to be a reason for me to buy somewhere else.

They promised one years ago, but never delivered. My main reason for supporting Steam even over GOG.

Apparently for lots oft publications (and people in general) it’s impossible to rate anything below 7

It’s a difficult issue. If Putin did release a game, did we know beforehand? How widespread was the knowledge? How did this info come to light?

I guess it’s similar to reports about crunch culture in many game studios. Do we want to support that and buy the game?
Or sexual harassment by C-level, same question.

Many people might not care, but some do and it’s still information to consider.

I think this is a good place to link Stop Killing Games. There’s currently an EU initiative under way to mandate that developers have to plan for the retirement of games with online services in a way that customers can still enjoy the game after the online services are shut down.

If you are a citizen of any EU country, please take your time to read through the initiative and sign it.

My account was banned for some reason, no idea really. Wrote to support to unban me so I could delete it, they did and I delete the account.

One thing this article gets wrong is the usage of REDkit.
To quote from the mod page:

Q: Is it made with redkit?
A: Not really, I spent 2.5+ years on making this mod, there were a bunch of tools which I used, including some ehich I had to write myself (wolvenkit Json converter, many python scripts for processing entities, meshes, generating setup scenes etc). The mod is built in radish system. Redkit was helpful in fixing some animation bugs on last development stages.

So it did help, but this mod probably could have been released without the new mod tools.

I’d never heard of Transsion before, so I took a quick look on Wikipedia.

TLDR:
They sell mostly inexpensive phones in poorer regions.
Features of their phones are targeted for those regions, like Africa, where they have special features to calibrate camera exposure for darker skin, retain dual SIM and support many local languages.
